ODETTE'S POINT OF VIEW

Kiel messaged earlier: "Be ready by seven. I'm picking you up tonight for the premiere."

I was just about to start looking for a dress when a knock sounded on the door. Clarissa, my maid, stepped in, practically beaming. She cradled a large white box in her arms, her eyes lit with mischief.

"Ms. Odette, someone left this for you!" she chirped, handing me a small envelope tucked beneath a silk ribbon.

I slipped my finger beneath the flap. The card was simple—black ink on ivory cardstock—but the message made my lips curve.

"See you later, my queen."

Just like that, Kiel melted my heart again. It was in the little things—the gestures, the timing. He'd been changing slowly over the past few months since we got engaged. The once distant, driven man had started showing up in ways that mattered. He even postponed his premiere night just to wait until I returned from my business trip in Korea. That meant something.
