DALLE'S POINT OF VIEW 

I woke up with cookie crumbs on my cheek and the smell of Mama's warm banana bread in the air. Not Mommy Odette, but Mama—Mommy's mommy. She always makes her banana bread on special days.

"Mama!" I shouted, sliding off the couch with a bounce. "Is it a special day today?"

Mama looked at me from the kitchen, wearing her apron with the sunflower that has a face on it. I like that apron. It makes her look like a cartoon grandma from my coloring books.

"Every day is special when you wake up in it," she said, then kissed my forehead.

I giggled. "You always say that. But really! It smells like you made the banana bread with the magic honey again."

"Maybe because you have a big job to do soon," she said, placing a tiny plate in front of me. "Remember? You told me you were going to be something very important at the wedding."

I sat up tall on my chair. "I'm the ring bearer! It's the most important-est job in a wedding!"
