Chapter 119 - Chapter 119

KIEL'S POINT OF VIEW

I received the footage on a cold Thursday morning. No name. No subject. Just a single link in my inbox, labeled with one word:

Sable.

I didn't know what I expected.

But it wasn't this.

It wasn't Odette, clad in black, moving like death through a warehouse of armed men. It wasn't the clean, clinical way she dismantled them—headshots, necks snapped, throats cut with precision. It wasn't the blood or the silence that followed. It was her eyes.

Cold. Unforgiving.

She wasn't just protecting someone.

She was reclaiming something.

I shut the laptop. My hands trembled.

"Daddy?" Dalle's voice echoed from the front room. "Luke's here!"

Luke.

I stood too fast. Hit my knee on the table. My breath came sharp as I walked to the window. There they were—Luke, crouched by the sandbox. Dalle beside him, laughing so hard he almost tipped over. And Odette. Sitting on the porch steps. Her hair in a messy bun. A smile on her lips.

A real one.
