"What should I do" he contemplated as he sat on the chair, he looked towards the board, he was three straight line drawn on the board, one of the line was crossed off, he got up from the chair, moving closer to the board to check if something was written somewhere around the board, as he took his fourth step, he suddenly woke up from the dream.
"Rise and shine, sleeping beauty, how was your night" Aloy asked
Tommy opened his eyes, everywhere was too bright that he had to close his eye again, "can you close the fucking blinds, it's too bright for someone who haven't see the sun for years" he complained as he sat up on his bed 'wait, how did it get bright all of a sudden' ever since he signed that contract, Strange things had been happening.
Strangely, with everything happening, Tommy still kept his cool, he hadn't frick out yet, he felt oddly familiar with everything, from his battle to the cleaner's eye changing color right before his eyes to the room he spent most of his night. "Wow, you finished everything, I thought I brought too much food." He heard his sister's voice as he turned his head to his side.
Aloy was checking the food containers, she thought she was going to throw away the leftovers, but there were none. "I told you I was hungry, did you think I was joking? By the way, why are you here this early? Don't you have lectures?" He asked as he got up from the bed. His body was still somehow stiff, so he began to stretch.
"Today is Friday, I have lectures later in the day, and is it wrong to come see you?" Aloy asked, Coming to see Tommy had become her daily routine, She was happy Tommy had woken up, but somehow she was sad, because she knew Tommy would start pushing her away like he did when they were younger.
She didn't want that; she wanted to spend time with him because deep down she felt Tommy might go back into a coma anytime soon, so she wanted to spend time with him. "Ohhh, okay, but you didn't have to come this early, you were here yesterday, you could have gotten some rest then come after your class." he knew Aloy had been spending most of her time beside him when he was in the coma.
He wanted her to enjoy herself, instead of coming to see him every day, "Say Tommy, you might not know this, but Easter Holiday is coming up soon, what would you like as a gift?" she asked, ignoring Tommy's advice.
Tommy was taken aback by the question ' so we are close to Easter Holiday, a lot of things is going on right now, i can't be thinking of the holidays now' he was worried about a lot of things that had been happening, at first he was getting use to this new lifestyle, but then he remembered the lines on the chalkboard, and he remembered one of the lines crossed off.
"I don't know, get me anything, and can you ask when i will be discharged, i don't want to spend the holidays inside a hospital" he wanted yo get out of the hospital quick, he had a lot of things on his mind, like when next would he disappear to hell, what if he disappear right in front of someone 'wait did i even physically disappear or is it just my mind'.
Tommy was lost in his thoughts, he was trying to figure out if he actually disappeared or if it was just his mind, but he had no way of knowing if he didn't get out of the hospital first.
Aloy had been talking for a long time, but she noticed that Tommy wasn't replying to any of her questions. She tapped him, "Hey, are you alright?" she asked.
Tommy snapped out of his thoughts, he looked at Aloy and smiled, "Yeah, I'm fine, I'm just thinking about something," he replied.
"What could a 3-year coma patient be thinking about?" Aloy wasn't buying it, she had a feeling something was wrong with Tommy. He was still sick, was he just acting fine to please us? she thought. That thought further enhanced her desire to spend more time with her twin brother.
"I don't know, probably the fact that you look way older than me, and I still look 18, and the fact that I have been in this goddamn hospital for four fucking years, or do you think that's not worth thinking about?" He replied in anger.
He had checked his reflection in the middle of the restroom, and he was surprised to see himself looking like an 18-year-old. He would clock 21 during May. Tommy and Aloy were born during the month of May.
When he examined his own body, he discovered that he looked like a sick homeless teenager, and now his sister was questioning him a lot. After knowing that devils and demons exist and he had signed a contract with one, he wanted to distance himself from his family in case everything came back to bite him.
You can't trust a devil who blackmailed you into signing a contract with it and decided to ditch you ever since. Tommy could see the sad look on Aloy's face; he didn't mean to make her sad. His emotions just got out of control.
"I'm sorry, Ay, I didn't mean to sound like that, I just wanted to get back to my life," he apologized as he moved closer for a hug. He hugged her and patted her on her back. " Am starving, did you bring anything?" he asked.
"Yeah, I did but just one container, dad didn't let me carry many" She replied, from her voice it was clear she was sad, she hadn't expected Tommy to raise his voice at her, it just reminded her of when they were little after they lost their mother, Tommy's attitude towards his remaining changed.
He stopped caring about any of them. It started partying, doing drugs, but to the rest of the family, Tommy was the one who lost the most because He was extremely close to their mother. It was clear that he preferred his mother to his father.
His father wasn't always at home. Once Tommy was so high he got into an argument with his father, and he told his father that everything would still be better if his father were the one who died. Those were some of Tommy's dark days before the Leukemia and the coma, but even after everything his father still tried everything to make him happy.
"Ohh, I don't think that will be enough for the two of us, it day time, how about we head to the hospital cafeteria and order something" he said with a smile, although he could eat the food in the container and eat something later, he wanted to make Aloy happy, and it seems his plan worked, as she was brimming with joy as she lead the way.
As they left the room, A dark smoke formed beside the door, the smoke turned into a dark figure, "Hmmmm, i can sense the devil here, it was here and the track stopped here, was it the kid, did he contracted the devil" as the dark figure moved around the room trying to get better sense of the devil, the door opened and a cleaner entered, the cleaner was shocked to see a dark figure walking around the room.
"What are you, what are you doing here" the cleaner asked in fear as she backed away "Better I would need to keep an eye on him anyway, this might do" The dark figure turned back into smoke and flew into the cleaner, after a few seconds the cleaner's eye changed into emerald green then it changed back to black.
'Hummm, interesting, she had even met with the boy, this might be easier than I thought,' the cleaner said. "Now all I need to do is just play along." The cleaner began to clean the room.
Tommy and Aloy made their way towards the cafeteria as Aloy tried to catch Tommy up on the recent events in her life. They eventually got to a topic that was hard for Aloy to discuss. "Tell me, do you have a man in your life?" Tommy asked with a smile on his face.
"No, I don't have a man," Aloy replied while scratching the back of her ear. Tommy laughed as he saw Aloy's behavior. He knew it could only mean 1 thing. "So, tell me his name, and is he in the same class as you?" As he took his seat waiting for Aloy to sit down.
Having known Aloy for a long time, although they didn't spend most of their time together in the past, Everyone in their family knows that whenever Aloy touches her ear when asked a question, it means she is lying.
