The game had stopped being a game a long time ago.
Cards scattered across the coffee table, some bent, others stained with fingerprints of chocolate or smudges of lipstick. Dice lay forgotten, tipped against the base of an empty wine glass. The timer had been silenced so many times no one even looked at it anymore.
The villa's polished living room, once pristine, now looked like something between a war zone and a honeymoon suite gone wrong. Cushions thrown, blankets tangled, lingerie hanging loose on shoulders or shoved halfway down thighs. The smell of chocolate lingered, mixed with sweat, perfume, wine, and Allen's soap-warm skin.
And the sounds—
Those shallow breaths, the soft groans, the half-suppressed moans.
All of it made the air heavy, electric, unbearable.
