Chapter 125 - Burvine

After a quick offline break, I returned online and continued to work. After today, I will sleep and then go bounty hunting. Ura and I decided that we would pick a space to rent quickly for our headquarters, and then I would go planet side with Emily Meemee and Enyo. That would allow us to get more acquainted and check each other's skills., It would also allow us to check the conditions on the planet side. It was a toxic world, but it was also the perfect environment in which to try out new things. This would also teach me how to handle my armor better while seeing how Emma and Meemee react.

So once we hit the floating cities of Burvine. Ura was already looking for a place to call headquarters throughout the floating cities. I learned that there were six major floating cities all over the planet. One is at the north pole and south pole of the planet, and four are along the equator following the planet's rotation. The large city, though, was called Central West City. Why it was considered west was beyond my comprehension, but it had the largest spaceport and the most criminals. It was the shadiest city of the six, and the resources here were the most abundant.

Treasure hunters came here in droves, looking to strike it rich, and the city was expanding. As we were coming in for a landing at the spaceport, Ura finally got the right people, and we found a place to call headquarters. It took a lot less time than we thought because of one simple solution.

A bounty hunter corporation was having a flash sale.

It was in a large, hundred-story mega building, and they owned the sixty-seventh and sixty-eighth floors, which had a lot of the equipment and tools we needed for training. It even had some special tools, and we purchased a lot of the stuff we would have had to purchase for a steal. The reason for the sale was that everyone who owned the company died, and their next of kin wanted to liquidate their corporation for all they could before leaving it behind. So we saved a ton of money on equipment. Sure, we would have to rearrange things so that only one floor was for training and the other was for lab work. It was a perfect pick, and Ura, the seller, and I were happy about the outcome.

Our new headquarters were not far from an auxiliary spaceport that had low traffic. Apparently, from what we could see, this one was filled with the less savory individuals who were likelier to wink at the rules or just pretend to follow them. It showed just how bad the corruption here at Burvine was getting. It was also the ideal place for a small corporation of smugglers to start. We could slowly build up an empire of bounty-hunting criminals from the ground up. We have plenty of bounties to pick up on the planet, and a spaceport nearby that we can easily point to reasons why we would use the less secure spaceport.

In the future, if we want to start making larger and larger ships, we could purchase a dry dock space, and it would not be far from the headquarters. The largest issue with the current placement of the headquarters is the lack of a warehouse at the moment. To mitigate this issue in the short term, we designated part of the training floor for warehousing and an armory. The entire upper floor would be closed off to the bounty hunters unless an emergency happened, and we would have the scientists live up there. With one corner being put to use for the living situation.

Ura smiled at me as she looked over the options, and we nodded. "This is the best we are going to get. How are you looking for bounties?" Ura asked.

"First, we need to ensure all of us are equipped and have hazard suits or masks to go to the planet's surface. I plan to leave that to Emma, though, as training for being a bounty hunter and collecting gear. Meanwhile, I am going to look up some bounty items to pick up on the surface.

"Good. Remember that the planet has a varied biome, but the area we chose is a toxic forested plains. It has the most resources; companies will pay a premium if you stake resources there. We can also come up with a mining operation here someday if it makes sense," Ura said, and I winced.

"That is taking too much on, but I do understand what you mean," I bluntly said and waved to Ura. "Going to get started."

I went and told Enyo, Meemee, and Emma what was happening and what she needed to collect for all of us. She nodded and got started while Meemee went back to working on her gear. She was not done customizing her gear to her body once again. It was going to take her some time to reach the point where she was comfortable with putting her life in the hands of the gear she had just purchased.

With that, everything was just moved into place. Setting down in Burvine and opening up our smuggled employees, I could tell that the last couple of days were boring for them. They were extremely happy, though, to finally be off the last planet. With Emma and I watching, we pulled out the cargo and delivered it to a batch of humans on Burvine. I was explicitly sure we were a gang. The drugs we shipped to them were not our issue, though, and we would soon be moving away from smuggling drugs to smuggling guns.

It became a huge flurry of movement as we had little time to do everything on Burvine. We were ahead of schedule, though, and we hired some local coolies to assist in setting up the headquarters. We turned the lab into something more barebones and started getting tickets for the other lab rats to visit Burvine. We decided it was cheaper than doing another back-and-forth when we could make more credits smuggling in the current environment.

So, the lab would be set up with the equipment they wanted. It was a risk on our part, but I was not about to start purchasing things I had no idea about and expecting them to use them once they came to the planet, with the exception of a corner workshop that I set to make into a precision machining area for me to craft the most complex guns that I could make.

I did not have the credits for it now, but I decided that once I reached a point in my weapon crafting, I would make a small crafting shop for myself. It would be filled with things, so I could make the best quality gear I could. It was going to take time, though, so I looked up the dimensions for artisan gun crafting stations and put space aside.

With all of that being decided and Emma taking care of the hazardous supplies, it was time for me to decide our bounties.

So I pulled up the bounty Hunter database and brought in Burvine's information, which was IMMENSE. There were a large number of criminal treasure hunters and resource scavengers. Some even set up criminal mining operations on other people's stakes and stole their minerals, which they would fence on the black market.

So, I found a couple of bounties that really interested me.

Mineral Thieves' Bounties.

Greetings, Bounty hunters,

Welcome to Burvine, a place where the environment on the ground is filled with hazardous vapor that can kill you if you breathe it for too long. The rich mineral content on the planet makes it a place where you can constantly find new sources of minerals, that the toxins in the environment make it impossible to scan from space, and only very close to the surface, which leads to many groups stealing others' stakes after they legally register them.

This is where our organization comes into the picture.

We have an ongoing bounty for capturing and killing ongoing mineral thefts. Designated locations have been filed with the local government where criminal enterprises have taken over local resource nodes and sold them on the black market.

As the sizes and strengths of these organizations will vary, we have set up a basic bounty system for the number of people in the enterprise (on the ground) and the Technology used to defend their illegal operations (on the ground).

In order to claim the bounty, it must be a registered criminal mining operation that the Stake owner has claimed not to be their own. The destruction must be recorded and UNEDITED with Bounty hunter-CERTIFIED equipment.

Bounties on a one-man operation start at 500 Federation Credits with no cap, depending on the strength of the defenses. Just know that the more defenses shown to be captured or destroyed during the claim of the Bounty, the more they will count toward the final reward. As an extra incentive, you may take all CURRENTLY mined minerals warehoused at your reclaimed site. The stakeholders are allowed to first purchase right at the wholesale price. Suppose they decline to purchase at that time for the Wholesale price of the stake. Then, you may seek to sell it elsewhere.

Please contact the Bounty Hunter Association and speak to a representative for more information.

It was an odd posting, but it clearly told me where something was with a map showing where the bounties would be. The problem was what was on the ground. You were only given a location with no follow-up. It seems that the Toxins in the environment messed with sensors so that they only worked at close range. I expect it did the same to Mana; otherwise, wouldn't they have just used Magic?

It was interesting, and I wanted to do at least one raid. Then, there were individuals and suspected locations, all of which matched up with various locations, which might give you more information.

Bounty: Doctor Angel Feathersword

Race: Half Angel, Half human

Crimes: Assault, Racketeering, Assault with a deadly weapon, Murder

Federation Bounty: 75500 Federation Credits

Wanted Dead or Alive

Note: Known to be the leader of a Massive organization stealing Stakes on Burvine. Highly dangerous and can fly. Known to be a coward and will fly away before confronting the opposition. It moves sporadically around through multiple stakes, so the location is unknown beyond the West City area.

Bounty: Julia Robenario

Race: Arachnid Queen (White Widow)

Crimes: Criminal Enterprise

Federation Bounty: 129000 Federation Credits

Wanted Dead or Alive

Note: The Queen Spider of the subspecies of Arachnid (they are truly Endless) has set up a nest. The Location of the Breeding grounds is unknown. What is known is that they have been occupying and overtaking Mining operations and selling minerals on the black market. The reasons for setting a breeding ground on Burvineare are unknown.

Special Note: If captured alive, there will be an additional tripling of the Bounty atop the current bounty in the best condition possible. (They want to study her)

On and on, notable people running operations continued, and although I almost could not believe it when I saw the Angel species, I was also not surprised. This galaxy seemed to hold so many species that it was insane. It was like Gabin Corporation raided the internet for every fantasy, Sci-fi, and paranormal book possible for species.

In the end, I pulled up the bounties I wanted to do with the four of us. They were all around the same area, and it seemed that these people might be in a small alliance with some minerals that were known to be good for bullets. It was the perfect match made in heaven for us. It was on a small corner peninsula by the sea. There were too many operations in this area, which made it out of the way. There were not many known stakes in the area, and so these people were left alone.

Bounty: Jackson Jackson

Race: Human

Crimes: Criminal Conspiracy. Theft, dealing in dangerous goods.

Federation Bounty: 10000 Federation Credits

Wanted Dead or Alive

Note: He is known to have at least three unknown associates working with him.

——

——

Bounty: Hil'ry Clickton

Race: Elf

Crimes: Criminal Conspiracy

Federation Bounty: 12000 Federation Credits

Note: Known to have at least five associates assisting in the sale of minerals on the ground.

————

Bounty: Needle (Unknown)

Race: Gnome

Crimes: Terrorism, Fleeing Justice

Federation Bounty: 25000 Federation Credits

Note: A dangerous engineer with lethal contraptions. Little is known since the crime they committed seemed accidental, but they fled before a trial could occur.

————

Bounty: Geevil Ballock

Race: Greenback Hobo Goblin

Crimes: Fraud, theft, bank fraud, bank robbery, Murder, Assault

Federation Bounty: 13050 Federation Credits

Note: A career criminal escaped jail in a massive jailbreak on Burvine when a section of the city was hit with a freak accident. Only twenty escaped, and it was from the lowest security section. Be warned; he has experience in combat.

——

These were the names that were there. There was only a small land bridge to the rest of the continent, and the stakes seemed to be occupied by these four groups. There might have been more, but these were the names of bounties for individuals in the area.

I put them before Enyo to see what she thought, and she had a grin on her face. "As long as you allow me to bring a big gun," she said definitively. These base attacks always need something that either shreds through anything or goes boom."

"I have the backup boom weapon for you, but let's go get something that shreds," I said. We depart tomorrow, so let's go now."

I got Enyo exactly what she wanted, and we all finished making preparations for tomorrow.

I was so excited I could not wait. I logged out and quickly ate dinner. I put on a skimpy latex outfit that showed off my cleavage, stomach, and thighs, leaving a bulge that was borderline lewd for the sleep viewers. I barely even said anything and crashed, looking forward to tomorrow.
