It passed more quickly than he had initially expected. 

He thought there would be more resistance, or at least something that would complicate his plan. But the Arden family seemed easier to dismantle than expected, despite how powerful they were. Most of the elders in the Ardens didn't even seem interested in getting involved with Hendrick, especially after Zion stated he wouldn't expose their shady businesses as long as they stayed out of his affairs with Hendrick. 

At first, they had thought, 'What could a young man like Zion Hughes possibly do?' They underestimated him. That is, until Zion got his hands on evidence of their corruption, proof of how many lives they had destroyed in the countries they manipulated just to secure land rights and full access to mining operations. That was when they fell silent.
