Looking at Zion as if he'd forgotten his own fear, Danny had almost taken a step forward— something Niel caught immediately, and Niel quickly cut in, interrupting the tension between the two of them.
"Zion, so he's at your house, right? Not here? Just for today, can't you let Danny see him?"
Again, Zion fell silent, he didn't answer right away. After a moment, it was as if his anger had evaporated, replaced by a calm expression that signaled he had no intention of dragging this conversation out any longer.
"Take the kid back to Arkan, Niel." As he said this, Zion furrowed his brows at him.
Niel wasn't exactly a mind reader, but he was pretty observant, especially of the people around him, and having known Zion since he was a child, he could more or less guess what was going on. There was something the man was trying to hide.
When Niel gave a quick glance at Danny, the young man looked even more frustrated, his forehead tensing as if veins might pop at any moment.
