Chapter 30 - Falling Asleep Beneath a Pumpkin

I kept glancing at him as I drove, sneaking little looks every few seconds, pretending I wasn't doing exactly that. But how could I not? He was still staring at me—quietly, steadily, like I was the most fascinating thing in the world. The kind of look that should've made me feel flattered. It didn't. It terrified me. And for reasons I couldn't explain.

I'd had my encounters like this before. Plenty of people, men and women both. I'd been complimented, flirted with, even downright admired sometimes, but not once—never—had a single person made me nervous with just a look. Yet Blake, right now, while dead drunk, while sitting there in that ridiculous pumpkin costume, somehow managed to turn me into a bundle of nerves without even speaking. Just with his eyes.

His soft brown eyes kept trailing over my face, then lower, then back up. And I felt it. I felt every damn second of it like electricity on my skin.
