Chapter 157 - Old family ties

AYAN'S POV

"You have my word," he promised me sincerely. I believed him. 

I smiled at him before I turned away and continued to walk down the palace entrance steps with Teon. The knights helped us onto the carriage, and we sat facing opposite each other. 

"You excited?" I asked Teon as he got comfortable in his seat.

He looked at me and hunched his shoulders to say he wasn't sure. I let a small laugh at his answer.

After a brief period, the carriage began to move. I looked out the window and found Arsen by the palace entrance. He watched us as we left. I waved my hand goodbye to him, and he did as well.

I smiled. Hopefully, all would go well and I would return to him. 

"Teon, are you listening, or are your ears for decoration?" I joked with him again as I pinched his ear. 

"I'm just nervous, that's all," he told me.

I completely understood how he felt. I too was nervous about this whole thing. I didn't know what to expect. But we needed closure nonetheless.
