Momota fell to the floor, his gaze fixed on the sky as a smile spread across his face, his body spent. Never had he had this much fun in his life. His days at the House of Ragnarok had really made him quite relaxed and this inquisitor was a diamond in the rough. Too bad exhaustion had taken hold of him.
"You good, Cass?" Jake asked.
Cass only responded with a wave of her hand as she lay on the ground, tired as well. Kyler had mentioned Momota in passing but never like this. It was fun while it lasted but it was also a little painful to realise that some threats were beyond her.
Jake turned to the unconscious Pop. Poor guy. He'll probably ask for a week's worth of vacation. He deserved it though.
Brandon and Jacques came into view, the latter leaning on the young boy. He let down Jacques beside him, giving Jake a smile.
"You guys too huh?" Brandon asked.
"We almost died, thanks to that muscle head over there."
"Sucks to be you guys. We faced a guy using water."
"Nice."
Sarah and Zhao Fan appeared as well. However, the individual behind them made Brandon stand, ready to fight.
"Calm down," Zhao said, "He's with us. I tamed him."
"Threatened," Koning said, clicking his tongue.
"Nice to see that you guys had it easy." Jake said,
"Not so easy." Sarah said, kicking Koning in the shin. "This one's from the Alderwolf branch family."
"Oh, your Blake's brother?"
"Cousin." Koning said, glaring at Sarah.
"What are you doing on their side."
"Can I not decide whom i choose to fight for?"
Zhao walked over to Jacques, poking at him. Jacques only looked at her, his tired gaze barely seeing who it was.
"Hey guys!" Kyler said, jogging towards them, Martha right behind him. Kyler beamed at them all but surprise took him when he saw Momota.
"Wow!" Kyler exclaimed. "You did this Cass?"
Cass responded with a weak wave. Kyler smiled, shaking her hand. He walked over to the hulking figure, stepping on the man's chest.
"Yo."
"Joseph." Momota groaned, "Been awhile."
"Yeah. Since when did you join the House of Ragnarok? Thought you enjoyed the hunt?"
"Mercenary got to boring. And besides, if i get to experience more of this, then it is worth, right?"
"Huh," Kyler said, walking away. He glanced at Pop and Jacques, then at Sarah. His eyes then settled on Koning.
"Koning?"
"Hey."
"Been a while kid."
"Yeah. Whatever."
"Call Klaus Alderwolf would you."
"Hell no." Koning said.
"He's not asking." Zhao said with a smile.
"No." Koning shook his head, "Mr Klaus would kill me. I didn't exactly leave the house with permission."
"Blake too." Jacques groaned, finally speaking, "What is it with you Alderwolves and running from home."
"Beats me." Kyler said, "Call Blake then."
"Fine. But only because you asked."
"Where's Diego?" Martha asked.
"Upstairs in his office." Jake said.
"At a time like this?!" Martha exclaimed.
"With a guy in glasses. Could be fighting but I haven't heard nothing."
"Oh, that guy." Martha sighed.
"Blake..." Koning said over the phone. "Yeah, yeah skip the pleasantries... well so am I, but Kyler wants to speak to you...what do you mean can i wait...oh?...oh."
"What?"
"Xenon is currently engaged in combat with him." Koning explained, "Both Mr. Klaus and Mr Keith Alderwolf too."
"Keith Alderwolf is fighting?" Kyler asked surprised.
"No...the target was Klaus. Blake and Keith must have been close."
"What the hell do you guys want?" Martha asked.
"We are distracting you." Koning said, "We're currently engaged with your leader, Edgar Lionharte."
"That's a hell of a distraction." Jacques said,
"Yeah, yeah. We need to retrieve the weapon Excalibur from him. Obviously he isn't going to take that nicely and we can't do that without you guys getting in the way."
"What's Excalibur?" Brandon asked.
"It's the Lionharte family sword. It allows them the user to travel wherever they imagine. If it is a place, that sword can get you there."
"Excuse me?" Brandon asked.
"Shocking, i know."
"Such a weapon exists and we have been spending countless hours traveling across the world?" Brandon exclaimed
"It's not something that can just be used at the go, it expends a lot of energy,"
"Who's currently engaged with Edgar?" Martha asked Koning. Koning remained silent, but Zhao Fan's smile made him shiver.
"Our leader, the First, Gerald Tason and Joseph Bayt'Hoven."
"Tason?" Brandon looked at Kyler.
"No, we're not related. Just stole the name."
"Glad to see that old man is still alive." Jacques said.
"You know him?" Martha asked.
"Yeah, he's some researcher." Jacques said, "Got his neck too deep in some stuff and i was sent to kill him. I didn't though and I think i let him catch on. As for this Joseph guy... he's also supposed to be dead."
"A lot of dead people coming back."
"I know."
All eyes turned to see Viktor Vott descending the stairs. Two of his members walked behind him, both injured. Shiro was also in view, although sitting at the door.
"Hey, its you again." Kyler said with a smile. "Been a while."
"Indeed."
"How's Diego."
"A bottle too deep, nothing to worry about." Dr. Vott said, "You're sharing quite a lot, Koning."
"Not much of a choice Doctor."
"I can see that. Just teasing." Dr. Vott said, looking at Momota.
"Desmond Scheibe and Hikone have engaged the Tartarus Branch."
"What...!" Martha exclaimed.
"Great, that creepy guy was alive." Jacques groaned.
"Phone please." Diego asked. All eyes turned to the Prime as he took the phone from Koning.
"Blake, tell...Oh Klaus...yes, i was going to tell you the exact same thing. No Queens isn't here, neither is Blake...i'll get to it."
Diego hanged up, passing back the phone. Then, he removed a shard from his pocket.
"What is that?" Brandon asked.
"A shard of Excalibur." Diego said, "Prime Edgar knew that emergencies could happen, so he gave a strategy of given us small shard of his blade. It may or may not be able to open a portal, but pouring foreign licht energy into it will cause Edgar to be alerted. If all of us do it, he will open portals to his location."
"Nice, then we all get to fight back."
"No."
"No?" Brandon frowned, "We all have to help,"
"I agree," Zhao Fan added, "It is our leader."
"Yeah, but even the Primes going will not be enough." Diego said, "This is not a daemon attack, kid. This is the House of Ragnarok. They've trained for this all their life. And even if we can face them head on, we would still lose. Even us Primes are in for a losing fight especially with their players like Desmond Scheibe and Joseph. Isn't that right, Viktor?"
"Well, Scheibe was one of yours, so you might have a chance. Not with Joseph though. He was, and still is humanity's strongest."
Brandon scratched his head. All this information was a bit much to grasp, but Prime Diego presented a credible argument. These individuals could fight and kill, something he did not sign up for. Even among the inquisitors who could kill, they were not at full strength. And if the threat could rival the Primes, or even exceed it, then it was better to back out. However...
"That isn't going to stop us, you know?" Kyler said.
Diego sighed, as he poured his energy into the shard. "Your funeral then. Don't say i didn't warn you. Without a way to contact Queens, you have to wait for Edgar to be alerted. All the best.
