Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Murphy and I entered the bunker

After walking down, we noticed the skeleton of a man sitting on the stairs

"That's one hell of a place to die," Murphy enunciated.

"Let's look for any weapons, blankets medical kits that still work, tents and any other thing we can find," I proposed.

"Are you sure we're gonna find anything here, I'd hate to get my hopes up just to be disappointed," he questioned.

While he was starting to believe, he still wasn't fully convinced.

"You know, sometimes life is about risking it. Can't expect to find anything good if you don't expect to be disappointed too," I advised.

"When did you become a philosopher,"

Murphy scoffed.

"I just pondered a bit about some weird stuff, and I came out of my thought process with more understanding,"

I told him.

"It's all about taking the moments you have to think. Though, unfortunately, we do not have that time at the moment,"

I announced.

We found some torches, that miraculously still worked, not far from the entrance.

Using those, we looked around checking barrels, bins, and containers.

In some of them, we found oil and Petroleum.

I took off my shirt and reached into the barrel with my arm.

Feeling some things that were hard and weirdly shaped, I took them out and found out that they were rifles.

"Hey Murphy, look what I found," I shouted, gaining his attention in the process.

"What did you find," he asked, still rummaging through a container filled with blankets.

"Whoa, a rifle. Where did you get that?"

He said surprised.

"It was in this oil container," I spoke out.

"There are probably more in every other container filled with oil. After all guns like these are best conserved in oil or Grease." I said.

"Cool, though I don't want to dampen our mood, I've been wondering, how are we going to use those guns if there are no bullets?" he said.

I answered, "We haven't searched this whole place yet, have we?"

"No," he admitted.

"Then there's still hope, right?" I told him.

I continued, "If you can't exactly do anything about it then you have to have faith. While I'm not saying that you should always rely on it, I still believe that hope is better than nothing. Kind of like some last resort, if you know what I mean."

Why am I acting like Thelonious Jaha?

After searching for an additional amount of time, we found where the bullets were stored.

We could see all kinds of them.

I didn't know the exact use of every bullet, apart from the fact that they were used to kill, but the one thing I did know was that none of the 100 wouldn't be defenceless for as long as our series's counterparts had originally been.

The only problem right now was finding a good method to transport all these goods back to camp.

After all, having strength was good but there was too much for my little hands to handle.

We might have to settle on multiple journeys to get all the supplies back to camp.

"Hey Murphy, what exactly have we found in here," I asked him.

"Well, we found uhm... A lot of blankets, a few empty syringes, thirty-five automatic rifles and their respective ammunition, forty-three semi-automatic rifles along with their respective ammunition, some pistols and their magazines and finally we got six sniper rifles." he summarized.

I asked him, amazed, "Did you just say sniper rifles?"

"Yeah, why? What's the sudden excitement for," he demanded, unimpressed by my behaviour.

I went to the place where he was located and took a look at the rifles he had just enunciated.

"Damn, those are sniper rifles," I spoke my mind out loud.

"Oh really, they are? Of course, they are. It's not like I hadn't just informed you about that?" Murphy asked.

Ignoring his sarcastic remarks I continued.

"This, my friend, is the best weapon I could have ever dreamed of finding here, especially when it comes down to assassination and hunting."

"If we manage to master the handling of this gun, then the enemy's leaders will never be safe from us," I finished.

"I'm sure you realized that I'm already aware of that, right?" The male teen next to him said.

"Uhm... Yeah," I said a little embarrassed.

"So, how did you know which gun was which," I decided to probe.

"Well I shot a target with the dummy bullets and depending on if there was one detonation or multiple then I would figure out if it was a semi or an automatic," he answered.

"So, have you figured out a way to bring the supplies back," he inquired back.

"Yeah, like I said earlier, were going to have to do multiple journeys, so take two or three rifles and a couple of magazines and I'll do the same," I told him.
