“So, how are things with your clinical work at the hospital? You’re almost done, right?”
"It’s going fine. I’ve passed all six of my rotations thus far. The last six should be fine too. Is this what we really want to talk about though? I thought we’re supposed to be clearing the air, right?”
"That’s right, we are. It’s just, well I admittedly don’t know what to say. I will say, I miss you.”
"You miss me? You acted like I didn’t exist to you for most of my childhood. I doubt you did.”
"Nadia, that's never how I...." His voice trails off. “There were other factors that kept me away.”
"Oh, come on! What could you possibly say that would justify abandoning me at five years old?"
