Prologue - Forget about dying for a second.

Two souls sat beneath the stars. One looked up, and the other did not, not finding their beauty amazing, but holding them in contempt.

The steady flow of time is a constant that can't really be broken. At least. Not forever. Perhaps those with certain gifts may be able to halt it for a second or more. Pretty impressive ay?

So what if people can stop time or not? What you're just saying is obvious. Like saying people live and die. It's a given. Utterly pointless and meaningless telling me this.

I want you to realize ya know. It's is an odd world. Billions of people running around with their own little traits and intricacies.

All of them trying to grasp something. As for this something is, doesn't really matter now, does it? All that matters, is that a person wants it.

It's allllll… there.

Countless fail. Countless succeed. World carries on in it's pursuit of dreams.

Get on with it, asshole.

What I'm saying is, it's pretty nice, isn't it?

Sure. Whatever. It's what it is.

Well. I think you'll see it like that too one day.

I doubt that I'll ever be as sickeningly florid as you.

I think you're already more florid than I am. It's not like I'm an overly complicated lady. When did you even learn to use a word?

Contrary to what you'd think, I'm not a dumbass like you. I know how to read.

Sure. Sure.

Tch, what a fool.

No response. She just grinned at the young man. Seeing this in the corner of his eye, battered and irritated, he shifted his eyes to her with a disinterested expression. Ugh~ I can't believe I lost to someone like you.

You were bound to be defeated one day.

I'd rather not have lost to someone so disgusting.

I'd rather not have fought someone so rude, and yet, somehow it happened anyway. Stop being such a downer, you brat.

Brat? You were lucky to have won that fight at all.

So? Be luckier then.

They sat in silence.

Hey Lucks.

What?

I love you.

His eyes widened as he turned his head to her. Unsure. What'd you just say?

Nothing. Nothin at all.

She grinned. The same annoying grin as always. As the luminaries twinkled above them, and blood pooled beneath him. He could see the stars.
