Chapter 55 - I GUESS YOU SHOULD RUNAWAY

Ishana: You guys have so many questions, huh…

But it's not really the way you think it is.

Anyway…

Maya, where are you lost?

Maya: (smiling softly)

I was just thinking about our childhood…

Those happy little moments. How beautiful everything was.

And now… look at us. We've all grown up.

Ishana: (nodding)

Yeah… you're right.

It really was a beautiful journey.

Luca: Hmm.

Hey, do you all remember how we used to finish our lunch before it was even lunch break in school?

Sonali: Yes!

And remember when I drew that cartoon of our teacher in my notebook—

and she sent us straight to the principal's office?

Rashmi: (laughing)

And I gave that drawing an "Excellent" on the top!

Honestly, she overreacted. It was a good drawing!

Pooja: And the exams! Oh my god, the way we used to cheat—passing notes, hand signals...

Time really does fly.

Tia: (sighing)

Guys, let's not talk too much about the past…

It's making me feel too nostalgic.

But honestly… those are the best memories.

I'll treasure them till the end of my life.

Alice: Hey, hey!

Weren't we supposed to be talking about your fiancé?!

How did we end up talking about our school days?

Anna: Exactly!

Tell us—who's the guy who stole your heart so easily?

Is he, like… ridiculously hot?

Maya: Wait a second!

Didn't you tell me about that hot doctor who lives near your house?

Is he the one?!

Ishana: (smirking)

Yeah… he's the one I told you about.

Luca: Awesome, babes!

So tell us—how did you manage to make it happen?

Ishana: Listen…

I like him, okay? But that doesn't mean I want to marry him.

Tia: What do you mean?

If you like someone, don't you want to spend your life with him?

Ishana: Maybe…

But you guys know how much I hate the idea of marriage.

And now you're all talking about my wedding…

For me, marriage is like the end of life.

I've seen good families fall apart just because of marriage.

A man… leaving his parents—

The ones who raised him for 25 years—

just to live with a woman he's only known for 2 or 3?

I just… can't accept that.

Maya: (lightly)

I always thought marriage was supposed to be a beginning, not an end.

But if you hate it this much…

Why are you getting married at all?

Ishana: Because of my parents.

They're forcing me into it.

Luca: Oh wow.

So what now?

Are you actually going to go through with it?

Ishana: (quietly)

I don't know…

I haven't really decided yet.

Pooja: What do you mean you haven't decided?!

Your engagement is tomorrow!

You can't be unsure at this point.

Why are you doing this to yourself?

Sonali: Honestly…

If you're feeling this trapped, I think you should just run away.

(The girls go quiet for a second, surprised by the bluntness of Sonali's words. Ishana looks down, conflicted, her mind racing. The nostalgia of the past and the pressure of the future are crashing together all at once.)
