Fisher glanced guiltily at the cursing Emhardt in his hands; he had previously thought Emhardt, being a relic, needed no sleep and would be perfect for monitoring the ship day and night. Now it seemed his actions had indeed been rather heartless.
He coughed softly and patted its cover as an apology. His eyes swept over the nautical chart to the Phoenix Strait, where just a short journey northward would reveal the southernmost coastline of the Sardinia Female Country. The Northern Realm, to the southwest, housed several Feudal Kingdoms, any of which would provide a port to dock. He decided that once ashore, he would sell the Flying Fish for funds and then go in search of Valentina.
"Bang!"
Just then, the door to the Captain's Room slammed shut with a tremendous noise, scattering Emhardt's complaints. He and Fisher simultaneously looked out the window and saw the faint outline of a coast nearly blending with the horizon; they were nearing the borders of the Sardinia Female Country.
