The cold stare instantly shocked Fisher awake, and he suddenly remembered that he was still watching chickens for someone else.
He staggered up from the straw pile, only to find that the surroundings were eerily quiet.
It was still midnight, and when he looked up at the sky, beneath that giant full moon, there was a purple lark standing on the roof of a villager's house. The lark's feathers looked exceptionally beautiful under the night sky. As it looked at the awakened Fisher, it even tilted its head in a human-like manner.
"Lark?"
A sense of foreboding rose in his heart. He hurriedly patrolled around the chicken coop and looked underneath the eaves where the lark stood, only to be shocked to find that a chicken was missing!
"Coo coo!"
