Chapter 3 - Finding the bug

Before leaving school, Louis had thought that the bugged human might be located there. He tried matching the IDs of humans at school and found out that Jack's teacher, whom Jack had confessed to, was the bugged human. Louis felt lucky to have discovered this information.

As he walked down the hallway, a girl stopped in front of him and smiled. She began speaking, "Aren't you Jack?"

"I am. What do you want from me?"

"I saw everything," she said.

"What do you mean?"

"I saw everything about how you killed Ben. You're not from this world, are you?"

"Are you going to threaten me?"

"No, no. I think you're really cool, like a villain from an anime with brown hair and brown eyes."

"Villain... you say?" Louis muttered to himself, unsure how to react.

Louis realized that this girl had some problems with her brain, although he could endure being called cool, being referred to as a villain was too much.

"Now, what do you want?"

"I just want you to make me your girlfriend. It would be really cool to be the girlfriend of someone like you."

"Ah... what a pain."

"Pain? In those fantasy anime I watch, the main character always builds a harem."

"Life isn't an anime, you poor human ..."

Without finishing his sentence, Louis opened the control panel. The control panel was like that of any computer, but it could control the system that controlled everything.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

Louis didn't answer. He searched her ID in the data tab and then opened the memory section, erasing her memories from that day. Louis then went straight to the school gate, leaving the girl in the hallway with a strange look on her face.

Louis searched Jack's memories and found out that his teacher, Jessica lived in Sector-10. Sector-10 not very far from Sector 11. Louis walked the whole way.

After reaching Jessica's house, Louis found that no one was there. He used dark energy to try and open the door from the inside, but it was old and rusted. Instead of opening it, he broke it down, muttering to himself about how poor humans were.

Upon entering, Louis saw that the room was messier than his own. He went and sat on the sofa and waited for Jessica to arrive. After twenty minutes, the door opened, and Jessica entered, half-drunk.

"Who is there?" she asked.

"Do you know where the TV remote is? It is really fun the way humans entertain themselves," Louis said casually.

"What? Jack? What are you doing here?"

Jessica was very confused.

"First, tell me where the TV remote is. We are going to live together, so it's important for me to know," Louis said.

"Jack, what are you saying? How can we live together? Why are you acting like this? How did you even enter the room?" Jessica asked, still confused.

"Ahh, so many questions. If I answer in short, then I am not Jack."

"Huh? What are you saying? How could I forget your face? You even confessed to me."

"It'll take some time for you to understand, but for now, let me check your memories."

As soon as Louis finished speaking, he looked into her memories the same way he did before, but this time, Louis screamed like a dying man. He had unknowingly stumbled upon a rare bug that could have affected him too . He couldn't look into her memories. Louis's soul clashed with the system, and he stopped just in time. Otherwise, the bug may have also affected him too.

"What's happening to you? Shall I call an ambulance?" she asked.

"I'm fine, but where the TV remote is ?"

"Remote? Have you gone crazy because I rejected you? I'm sorry."

"Ah, not that nonsense again," Jack muttered.

"Listen, this is the last time I'll say it. I'm not your Jack. I'm Louis de Francos, a moderator of the system. I'm here to fix a bug that has appeared in the system."

"I'm so sorry that I caused this. However, we cannot live together as it is illegal to live together before marriage in Safeland."

"Ahh, cut the crap. Then just marry me, and put an end to this."

"How can I marry you? I'm already engaged to someone else."

Just then, the doorbell rang, and she heard her fiance's voice.

"I'm coming," she called out, making her way to the door. But as she hurried, she tripped over a can and fell onto Louis's body. She didn't know that the door was broken , she was half-drunk to notice that. Just then, her fiance opened the door, and stepped inside the room.
