Chapter 387 - Chapter 383: Interchange (Gyohwan)

"Mistress Han? I cannot fathom why you would want to summon me in the middle of all of this chaos with…" "Take a seat Big Madame; I have summoned you here to present you with this gift for your daughter for her upcoming nuptials. I also ask for your forgiveness for being ill recently and not coming to see your family on time. I am lacking in decorum and…" "Be that as it may, I have no intentions on marrying my only daughter so far away where I can never see her again, no matter how much this will help my family clan." "Are you not going to reconsider this, My Lady? This will regain your clan's reputation and you independence…" "I will no tell my children for glory and wealth as my parents did me! I suffered the most miserable marriage that had ever occurred to anyone and I will be damned if I put my own daughter through that!" "My Lady, with all due respect, your family are not going to see it that way and they will hardly allow you to think otherwise." "And that is the very reason why I shall take my children back home…" "Forgive my impermanence, but the only reason why you reunited with your parents is due to the fact that your husband kicked you out for fighting with his new concubine. And apart from the late Seo Geom, there isn't a father in this nation that cherishes their daughters or see them to have any use at all. And I have this perfectly delicate jade pearl necklace that would look simply divine on your young daughter's neckline. Look how lustrous those pearls are…" "I can see them quite clearly, and I can tell that not even my sister's nephew could afford that, which begs the questions of where you got it from and what exactly you had to do for it?" "Never you mind that…" "And why exactly are you interfering with my family's personal matters may I ask? Not even The Seo girl is this dense to impose on other people like you do! No wonder he chooses her over yourself!" "Be that as it may My Lady, but I do have an important piece to add to your daughter's dowry and it would be unwise for you to walk away from such a rare item…"

"Is that so? Then may I suggest that you give it to the useless concubine that you hired whom still hasn't gotten within 5 feet of my sister's nephew? If the girl's virginity is still in tact, then why can't you just send her in my daughter's place instead?" "The concubine has already been registered under The Nam Clan and…." "It will be just as easy to remove her from there since she is still a virgin, isn't that right Mistress Han?" "How do you expect The Prince to take on a lowly illegitimate maid as his main wife compared to your precious legitimate daughter. I heard that she gained somewhat of a reputation of lording her legitimacy all over her illegitimate siblings, causing her to be kicked out of her own home by her father, along with that useless son of yours. But if this marriage goes ahead; your daughter will be set up for life and The Prince may even take pity on her brother and find him something to do in the palace as your parents expected him to a long time ago." "My daughter is still young and does not censor her speech yet; this is a fault of mine that I intend to correct when she is ready for marriage in a few years time." "Do you mean for her to be an old maiden by that time? Unable to bear children like Seo Yeon and unable to bring glory to her husband?" "Excuse me? You are under the illusion that the girl is barren?" "Of course she is, he has almost been with my husband for a decade and she hasn't borne any fruit yet. But coming back to this situation at hand now…" "Since the old days, a good mother pampers her child and marries her off at the right time with the right training." "She will relieve proper training from the palace staff surely, so there is no need to wait so long until your daughter misses the chance to marry eventually. That will be better than you teaching her personally in case she makes any big mistakes, such as she has made recently. The Royal Family is looking for a legitimate wife from once of the older clans of this kingdom and what better way to repay you parents for all that they have done for you, especially after how close your daughter has gotten to The Prince already. And what are you going to do if he personally starts asking for you daughter? Will you really have the guts to reject hm to his face?"

"I need my daughter to stay committed to her filial piety towards me in the absence of my husband. There are plenty of your kisaneg sisters on the other hand that wouldn't dare to shrink away from such an opportunity, so you had better ask them instead. As my sister's grand daughter in law, will you really go this far to displease her own family, even though you were the one who called us here to help you get back in the graces of The Lord Nam?" "And in gaining his favour, I need to pacify this situation for him that your own daughter has created. And if she does not marry him, then she will have shamed his family, your family and even your husband's family. This will then result in your parents having 2 divorced daughters. Your parents are already so traditional that it is a miracle that they haven't stoned your sister in shame, so what will happen if the same thing happens to you? Will you really ruin your marriage and your children's father just to spare your daughter from marrying a goddamned Prince!" "You know what? Speaking of barren women, we haven't seen any results from you either, and it is said that you have been by his side for just as long as The Seo girl has? And even if she is barren, how do you explain that m sister's nephew only rose to unimaginable power when he had her by his side? Maybe we should start accepting her instead of you since she has proven to bring about some results." "What did you just say to me?" "I believe that you are not that hard of hearing, compared to my father anyways." "Even if you chose her, your nephew would have n descendants, which is why I need to retain my concubine for him." "So wha use do we have for you at all? You cannot bear children, you are older than The Lord Nam in the first place and you are not talented to liked by anyone at all. Maybe you should be the one to marry The Prince after all." "I am not the ones that the court officials are fighting The Prince to marry; the girl has caused a scandal and her name had been identified; exactly how do you plan for her to live the rest of her life? Surely no other noble family will take her in as The Prince's handout, so what will you do? Sacrifice her life for your selfishness? Why won't you use see sense and make the best decision for all of us in this household and to prove it to you, I shall invite my husband over for dinner in my chambers to discuss this matter and if he agrees, then you yourself have to as well, before I go to your parents for this matter." Is that so, Lady Han? Very well, if you do not wish to heed my wishes, then I myself shall get you kicked out of here faster than anyone can make you leave, and in public as well."

 **********************

My own husband couldn't have made it more obvious that I had lost his favour long ago as he seemed to have grown a backbone overnight after retuning home with his little slut. He even went so far as to live in just the few rooms that he had on the other side of this yanyban that was heavily guarded on his side, whilst the rest of us were left with fewer staff and guards at our disposal, even though that girl barely used any servants at all. And with the recent scandal that befell this family, I knew I had to so emoting to fix this for him, and what better way than to invite some of the officials over rather than have him be ridiculed in the palace for this over and over again, just like I ensured his senior at work would do so as soon as he started o brazenly visit that women in he brothel right in front of me without a hint of shame or hesitation at all. I had power over him as soon as I bailed him out, only to have him turn his back on me completely from the moment that I had him to myself. But now that I had lost the Senior Scholar's trust, I had to restore my man's reputation on my own to save us out of this mess that his unruly and untamed spoiled brat of a cousin had caused. I tried to fight for the right to use all of the servants that I required to set up a lunch feast big enough to feed every single person that I had invited. I even had to go out of my way personally to enquire their servants of their master's diets and send them whatever little gifts that I had left for myself to send as bribes to make everyone open up to me. This left me with very little expenses to actually buy all of the groceries for the banquet, so the mother of the daughter who was forever shunned to her quarters left me no choice but to go to her family clan about the issue, who were all on my side. And with their help, I just knew that I would have more of a chance to succeed in my task to marry the cousin off to rebuild my man's career. As for the aunt herself, she was more than furious when she found out about all of this, to the point where she locked herself and her children in their chambers as the rest of her family finally plucked the courage to make themselves seen in the public eye since we all moved here into The Nam residence 2 months ago. They still had some contacts in high places due to the longevity of their clan, but I could see almost instantly that they were all here to mock us and the situation we had landed ourselves in before they were all bound to fight each other in order to be the one who could give The Prince a quick solution for his situation that would pacify The Emperor and give the chosen official a lifetime of glory for his resolution to peacefully help out The Royal Family. This was a job that my husband had for quite some years and he did benefit from this quite well…only to have lost it all from the time that I found him again…it was me all along; I was his jinx that almost left him as a broken man and now a complete joke to the rest of the kingdom that he used to devote himself to. I was the cause of his downfall and I ruined it all for him due to my reckless anger…and I had no idea what to do to fix all of the damage that I had brought upon my family before anyone gave it a chance to start.
