Chapter 19 - Home Invasion

Ms. Justice:

The sound of another window breaking acts as the signal bell. The second we all hear it, the fight starts, and all the clones start charging in. They run in through the newly broken windows.

"Get down," I shout, spinning around and winding up. Throwing my shield, it hits a clone before bouncing into the air. Rushing forward, I grab my shield as it returns down. Catching it, I spin around again and hit another clone with it.

Almost immediately surrounded by a bunch of identified clones, each one looking exactly like the one next to it, I do my best to keep them back. Every time even one of them takes a step toward me, I spin and swing my shield, sometimes hitting the clone but sometimes only forcing them back. When one clone tries to attack me, I swing my shield and hit him, knocking him to the floor. However, as I do this, another clone tries to attack me from behind. He screams as he lunges at me.

I turn around as fast as I can to try and block him, but when I turn, what looked like brown beanbags hit the clone in the head and chest. He falls to the floor with a loud thud.

"I got your back," SharpShot says, holding his dual blasters.

"Thanks," I say, giving SharpShot a nod as I spin and swing my shield again, hitting another clone.

SharpShot and I make an excellent team. Somehow, even outnumbered and surrounded, we manage to keep the clones back. At least 20 clones are unconscious on the floor, and the ones that aren't are moaning and groaning as they crawl away.

Catching an arm with one hand, I swing my shield and hit another clone in the head. The clone screams as he falls back. I watch him fall back for a few seconds before stopping and looking up.

All the lights above us start flickering on and off. They do this for a few seconds before stopping and staying off.

"What was that?"

"Number," SharpShot answers, pointing at something. Turning my head, I see Number on the outside, with wires in his hands.

Raising his hands into the air, Number siphons all the electricity from Mr. Rami's house. As he takes all the power, Number creates more clones. While half of the new clones help the old clones back onto their feet, the other half charge toward me.

"Justice," SharpShot shouts as they all come charging toward us at once. Breaking more windows, they come at me from every angle. Swinging my shield, I manage to knock out three more clones, but a 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th clones grab and pick me up.

They raise me before throwing me into a wall.

SharpShot:

"Ms. Justice," I shout again. I run to see if Ms. Justice is okay, but four clones cut me off from her. They smile as they punch the palms of their hands and slowly walk toward me.

As they walk toward me, I check how many rounds I have left. One of my blasters is empty. The other blaster is half-empty. I only have one spare magazine. Once that is empty, then I have nothing left. Nothing but two empty blasters.

Eyeing Justice as she slowly pushes herself up and grabs her shield with a shaking hand, I look at all the clones in their eyes.

"I'm only going to say this once," I say, flipping my empty blaster over and holding it by the barrel. "Get out of my way or I will give all of you black eyes."

The clones don't listen to me. So I scream as I charge toward them.

"Arrggghhhh," I yell as I raise my empty blaster. Hitting one clone with the handle, I knock him to the floor. When another clone lunges for me, I fire a round and shoot him in the leg. Screaming as he drops to his knee, I hit him in the head, knocking him out exactly like the first one.

The last two throw themselves at me, but I shoot one of them in the leg. While he drops to his knees, I throw a swing and punch the second clone across the face. When his back is to me, I shoot it, literally shooting the wind out of him.

The fourth and final clone falls onto the third clone, and the two are knocked out.

"I told you to get out of my way," I say, running over to help Justice.

SpeedBlade:

Running through the opened iron gate, I use my super speed to run up the large stone pathway as fast as I can. Skidding to a stop when I see the house surrounded by many people, all of them look the same, I reach into my armor and pull out the communicator.

"QuickShot," I start, "JumpStart! We're too late! The 'Number' man who SharpShot warned us about. He is real, and he is here! He and his army have already surrounded the whole house. There are hundreds of them!"

"SpeedBlade," QuickShot says, "Do you see Ms. Justice anywhere? Is she there?"

I raise my head and look around. It doesn't take long for me to see Ms. Justice lying on the floor.

"She's here. I think she's down. She's lying on the floor!"

"What!"

"SharpShot is trying to protect her, but he's outnumbered."

"SpeedBlade. Please. Help him! Forget everything I said and help SharpShot!"

"Of course," I say, nodding and putting away the communicator. I switch the communicator for my sword. Raising it into the air, I yell as I charge toward the house.

Many of the people turn their heads when they see me. Only one of them screams something.

"Attack him," this Number screams, pointing a finger at me. Hearing his order, half of the people turn and run toward me. They pull back their fists and throw them toward me.

Using my speed, I take a turn and run to the first person on the left. Shooting out my fist, I run and punch, hitting an entire line of them and knocking them to the ground. More people are still running toward me, but despite their overwhelming number, they are still too slow to fight me.

Running around and through them, I not only confuse them but also make it nearly impossible to hit me. The same can't be said for the people. The whole time they try to attack or even catch me, they are left exposed. I can easily knock them out by either punching them or hitting them with my sword's handle.

Knocking out all the clones in only a few moments, I run into the house. When I see SharpShot helping Ms. Justice, I let out a sigh.

"SpeedBlade," Ms. Justice says, "I am really glad to see you here. But wait? Where are QuickShot and JumpStart?"

"They're coming, but I'm afraid I am the only one here because of my speed. Justice, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. So is he."

Ms. Justice looks at SharpShot.

"Hello," I say, bowing my head.

"Hey," SharpShot says. "Listen, can you hold Ms. Justice for a bit?"

"Yes. Of course."

"Here."

SharpShot gently hands me Ms. Justice. She slides off his arm onto mine. While I hold onto Ms. Justice, SharpShot reaches into his belt and pulls out something small and in the shape of a rectangle. Whatever it is, another one falls from his blaster.

"Last one," SharpShot says. "Wow. First night out and already, I'm out of non-lethal rounds."

"You don't have any more in your motorcycle," Justice asks.

"I already used them. I guess if I survive this, I have to remember to bring even more with me next time."

"If you survive this," I repeat, "No, you did. We did. We defeated Number and his army. They are all lying on the ground."

"Uhhh," Ms. Justice says, pushing herself off of me. "Sorry, SpeedBlade, but no, they're not."

Raising a shaking finger, Ms. Justice points toward the outside. SharpShot and I look outside and see all the people I knocked out vanish. They turn into purple outlines of themselves before disappearing.

"It's happening again," SharpShot says, "They're turning back into electricity, and the electricity is being grounded."

"What does that mean?" I say, holding up my sword.

"It means I need to make more of myself," someone yells. Turning around, I see a person, the one who was yelling from before, holding metal ropes with both his hands.

Raising both his hands, the man starts shaking. As he shakes, all the lights in the manor next door turn off and on. I hear people screaming, and dozens of popping sounds. A few moments later, something, or someone, bursts out from him. No, a lot of someone. A whole new army.

"Number used the electricity from the neighbors to create more of himself," SharpShot says, raising his only blaster with both his hands.
