After hurriedly gulping down the second cup of coffee, Rita felt that she was back to her senses. After finalizing that surgery she just had she was totally drained and was sure she couldn't drive herself home but the strong coffee she takes works wonders. she grabbed her pink luxurious monkey bag and sluggishly went out without even taking her doctor's apron off. she was too exhausted to even think. On her way out she bid Maya and her fellow nurses who were on night shift goodbye and left. On her way out by the door, she encountered Jason who was reporting for his night shift and offered to drive her home but she politely refused and told him she would manage. Driving her "baby" which she calls her car, and operating on people were things she was serious with so she managed just fine and got home safely. After getting in and locking her door she quickly changed into her pj's and retired to bed. The following morning being a weekend eve on Friday, her alarm went off at 5am unlike it's usual 4am during weekdays. She jolted up from bed thinking she was late only to find it was just 5am . She prepared for her day normally and as usual she got to work early. After settling in her office she asked a nurse to let the first patient in the queue in and seconds later a woman whose appearance looks around the age of fourth five and a young handsome man walked in. she welcomed them and asked them to sit before looking at Rosemary's medical report which she received from the young man. "lincoln said. " I appreciate you coming here as early as now because there will be less complications and yes we will work together to ensure your mum is okay. So is she in alot of pain? because if that's the case then I will include pain relievers in her prescription and I will come up with a schedule for her chemo and radio therapies sessions, you will get these from the pharmacy "she explained while handing a piece of paper to Lincoln. " I guess that will be a it for now, I will see you when we start the sessions and don't worry all will be well. "They shaked hands and both mother and son left. She attended to a few more patients before it was lunch time and as she was leaving she met her colleague and best friend Claret and they both went for lunch. Claret is a gynaecologist and work at the same place as her bestie Rita. This was what they dreamt of except that they both lack lovers. But this doesn't seem to be of much concern to Rita since she doesn't believe in love at all. They chatted about work as usual and on their way back to their posts they came across a young girl who was being dragged on a stretcher to the emergency room but had no one to check on her since may doctors were in various operating rooms. Rita dismissed Claret and volunteered to attend to the matter. The girl by the name Ophelia complained of tummy ache and Rita found the need to enquire about any allergies. She went to meet the cute young man that had accompanied Ophelia. He wore a worried face but that just complimented his great facial features which were very eye-catching. " Aaah excuse me sir, I was meaning to ask if you know of any allergies she has before some tests are conducted on her, "she asked. Stretching out his right arm for a handshake he introduced himself, " Am just her uncle and she happened to be under my care when this occurred but I can ask her mum", He proceeded to do so and it was found that she was allergic to peanuts. She was given pain killers and some drugs were prescribed to her and that was all. When she turned to leave, she was called, "Excuse me Doc please forgive my manners thank you so much for your services even of its your job I know you are busy, By the way am Jermaine Willington, Ophelia's uncle and you are doctor? " Rita was perplexed and the moment their hands came into contact she felt a strange sensation run through her spine and she came out of her trance, "Am Doctor Rita and don't mention it I was just doing my work and you or her parent can get the results for the tests that will be done on her to check for any other allergies. In case of any difficulty you can consult with any doctor or even me, I will be happy to help. " The name Rita seemed to ring a bell in Jermaine's mind and he made a mental note to know her other names. She left for her office where she went about her work as usual. Having no night shift she and Claret had planned to hang out since it's been a long hectic week and they needed a break. little did Rita know what's in store for her.
Rita and Claret agreed to meet at the mall to get some groceries and head to Rita's apartment and make dinner.As agreed they met and started shopping and as they were looking for wine to accompany their food Rita met Jermaine from the hospital but this time he was casually dressed but even his casual wear was classy. He looked very handsome and sexy that Rita was gawking at him until Claret elbowed her. What's even more embarrassing is the fact that he was also looking at her and he was smiling. Rita felt very stupid for allowing her heart to over power her brain. He whistled his way to the cashier to pay for his stuff and later left in a luxurious Ferrari whose colour was an eye catching blue that made look out of reach for anyone except those on the same class as him. Very fortunate" Rita said and this earned her a stare from her best friend who gave her a what are you saying look. So you know such a hot and cute guy and are still single or is he married? but I didn't see any ring on his finger so he is still available. "Rita just shrugged and gave a disapproving look and said, " Ooh please bestie don't even go there, you know he was said to be my sweetheart when we schooled together but never spared me a glance and yet I had a crush on him. Just drop the topic because he is a playboy or maybe has a girlfriend and I am not ready to have a heart break. " She said as she inserted the key and started the engine of her car which was a Harrier. "That's sad and yet I thought you will finally be in a relationship, life is so unfair to you my bestie. "
