AUTHOR'S POV
Close by, Stellan could hear the deep persistent humming suiting the vibrations that causes the wall of trees by the forest tremble. She waited. She stood by the riverbanks with bated breath. Later, the dark healer slowly emerged from the thick bushes leaving a withered track of herbage. It rose above with its hands outstretched in the air. It stayed afloat in eerie silence, with its shadowy figure swaying at the whisper of the winds like tattered curtains.
Stellan raised her eyes upward, gazing at the dark healer unwaveringly with a sharp intake of breath. Anytime now, she prepared. With great anticipation, the dark healer lunged forward at Stellan who's standing fiercely by the riverbank. Stellan started gathering the winds, and swirled its gusts trapping the dark healer in a single swing of her staff.
The winds in maelstrom spinned rapidly in a column. The rocks moved in its tempest, along with heaps of sand and rotten woods. The dark healer spun in chaos, escaping Stellan's plague. The whirring sound that it makes was loud enough to mask the screech of the dark healer as it try to get away.
After a few attempts of evading turmoil, the dark healer break free with an earsplitting cry. Stellan was jarred a few steps back from the forceful impact, getting his feet wet from the river. As the dark healer attack onward, Stellan ran to the riverwaters, calming the currents as she cross by. Half way through, she looked back and saw the dark healer staying afloat by the edge of the riverside. It hovered without touching the waters.
Stellan tilted his head in wonder. What's stopping the dark healer now, she thought. Then she realized there may be something in the cold waters of the river. To put an idea into a test, Stellan lifted a spherical enclosure of water and delivered a forceful blow at the dark healer. The wraith jolted backward, howling a supremely unsettling screech as if the water burns.
Gesturing fighting movements aboard the pegasus, Jac was completely baffled at how the dark healer seemed to suffer harm at the splash of the water from the river. As he trail where the river comes from with his eyes, he notcied that it flows from a path coming from the direction of Caluso. He appreciatively stroke the pegasus' mane for wisely taking them there. "Not so bad for a horse with no danger signals".
The dark healer attempted to flee. However, Stellan didn't give it a chance to escape her grasp. Once more, she maneuvered a strong blast of wind in a whirlwind to grab hold of the dark healer. A sharp crackle of Stellan's magic tuned with the speeding swirls of the dark healer's spiral cage. Then, she pulled a string of water from the river and splashed it directly towards the vortex.
On edge, Jac watched Helena without blinking. A surreal mixed feeling of bewilderment and fear creeped at the back of his head. He finds the beauty of Helena's magic truly marvelling, but then again, he fears its depths.
The dark healer poured its loud screeches, continously sending out balls of acrid bolts. Getting hit on her arm, Stellan grunted but didn't made her cease from her zealous work of letting the dark healer absolutely submit to her unforgiving magic. She could feel her head splitting in half and her gut shredding into pieces, and yet, she endured it all raising her staff draining her magic.
The dark healer squealed fleeing the chaos, only to completely lose control. It fired more bolts of fury in random directions as it spin frantically. Their duel of strength and immersive powers went on for a few minutes, until the dark healer finally gave in.
It was then that Stellan took the perfect opportunity to grab her dragon hilt. She fired up the blade of her aura, as it beam a strong bluish glow. On her mark, Stellan dashed towards the dark healer and jumped in the air with her sword in her hand. Facing the wraith head to head, she released all the celestial powers from her core to her hilt as she slash through its spectral form.
A bright stunning light erupted by the rivers along with a loud ringing sound. It lasted for a few seconds before completely disappearing. The pregnant silence took place, and the natural light from the cracking dawn returned.
Just then, the rain began to pour.
Jac held his breath as he try to see all the way down. His eyes peered through the motion blur and drops of rain. "Helena!", Jac called repeatedly and waited eagerly for her reply as they fly more in circles. There's no way she wouldn't, he believed. After several more calls, he finally found what he seeks. "Helena!!!", he joyously exclaimed after finally seeing Stellan lying on his back by the riverside. Persistently, he push the pegasus downward in an attempt to descend. Surprisingly, after all of his command and urge to come down, the pegasus plunged into the lower ground. "Now we're listening huh?", he scoffed.
Jac wobbled as soon as his foot touched the ground. The pegasus stood firm, with his right wing stretched to Jac, supporting his rider while Jac find his footing. "Tha-nks", Jac stammered with a soft smile as he caress the pegasus shoulder. "I guess I'll see you around". The pegasus snickered lowly, before spreading its wings. Then, it flew away without ever looking back. "Stay away from the bad guys!! Okay?!", Jac shouted as he watch the pegasus fly in the rain.
Thereafter, Jac rushed to Stellan, who's drenched and laying unmoved on the wet pebbled floor. Her body was burning. Hence, all the raindrops cool his skin down to a vapor. When he get closer, Stellan was heaving heavily through his open mouth with her eyes tightly shut. "You did it, you finally did it!! Can you get up?", Jac knelt as he lift Stellan's head. "I got you brother". He found several ripping wounds on his chest and legs, considerably from the paladin magic blowing from Stellan's body. And, one burn on his arm from the inexorable strike of the dark healer.
"Yea.. I… I just just need a.. moment", Stellan breathlessly said with a weary grin.
