Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Carnage

The woman picked up the second book and began to research on her magic affinities.

The colours she saw were, of course, types of magic. They were:

Red - Blood

Yellow - Sun

Green - Earth

Blue - Water

Black - Soul

White - Light

Astrid turned the page to look at the section about grey, but it was ripped out, as if someone were to keep it hidden.

'Oh well. I've still got many other affinities to use. I'll find out eventually.'

She flipped back to the first page and returned to the training grounds.

'Let's see....blood magic, sounds like it hurts. Soul magic....no. I'll just start with a simple one. Earth.'

She held out her hand, then closed her eyes.

'Stay calm, control my breathing, and believe...'

Immediately, the ground in front of her rose about 30 feet into the air.

"Woah. That was easier than i thought."

She turned to the pages on water magic and flawlessly mastered that too.

'Isn't this a bit too easy?'

She tried sun magic next. It was a lot like fire magic, but it was stronger, as it increased strength, agility and vitality.

She raised her hand. A large ball of fire engulfed her hand and she felt a massive buff in her stats. When she struck her hand down, the ball of fire flew forwards and left a pathway of destruction through the forest in front of her.

'Oops...i might have used a bit too much power....'

Astrid swiftly took cover as she spotted a few people come out of the forest. They were wearing some sort of white army uniform. They began to talk to each other.

"Did we get caught?"

"No, it was a fluke."

"Ready to set the bombs off?"

"All set, sir. We await your command."

Astrid's heart dropped. 'Bombs? Here? That might blow up the town! I have to stop them, after all, i am incredibly strong.'

She grinned and came out of hiding.

"Time to teach you guys a lesson."

A hand was lifted for the second time, and another ball of fire was thrown. It completely wiped out the group.

Tied up and struggling, the men started to chant a couple of words under their breaths. Astrid approached them to interrogate them.

"What were you all planning? Who are you anyways? And what are you mumbling about?"

Before Astrid could ask another question, she was launched back by a large force and bruised heavily. 'What was that?!?'

She looked up to see a man, who was probably the cause of her injury. He began to walk towards her, and all Astrid could hear was the jingling of his diamond earrings, and his rough breathing.

'I'm gonna die if I don't do something.'

She rose, and attempted to use her light magic. Rays of light erupted from her hands, but it burned like hell.

The man dodged all of the shots fired with ease, then narrowed his eyes on her. "So you use the colours....I didn't know there were any Misfits left. Well, there won't be in a few minutes."

He pointed at Astrid, which resulted in a heavy force landing onto her. It felt like the weight of 1000 tanks. This took all the energy out of her, and she fell to the ground. Astrid looked towards the town. 'Am I really about to die again?' She saw the town flooded with fire before she closed her eyes and let her consciousness fade away. The man walked up to the still Astrid, and raised his sword to finish her off. As he was about to behead her, he froze. The ambience in the atmosphere swallowed him up in fear.

"Why..can't...I....move?"

He ceased to resist, then lifted her up with a force and chucked her into the village.

"If I can't kill her, the fire will."

The man walked off.
