Eirin slapped her hand on her neck, capturing Shade's finger. She pulled Shade's hand as she turned around. "What are you doing? Why did you suddenly touch me? Are you a pervert?"
Shade stared at Eirin's hand holding his. "You have a sweat dripping on your neck," he said. His eyes were glued to their hands.
"So?"
"My hand moved on its own."
Eirin blinked lots of times. "Would you normally do that to someone?"
"I don't usually do that—no, I would never do that."
Eirin's forehead creased. "Then why did you do it to me?"
Silence surrounded them, a thick, suffocating atmosphere. Even though the festivities didn't die down, the two couldn't hear anything else but each other. It was as if the world, a vast, chaotic place, had just disappeared, and there were only the two of them.
"I'm pretty sure you're aware why I did it." Shade's voice was a low, smooth tone. He leaned in, and a small smile formed on his face.
