Chapter 430 - Story 29 The Path Of Least Resistance. Chapter 17 ALT POV

Dao Xuer's face pinched as she stomped back towards the Water Mountains' side of the Sect, and with a snort she all but slammed the hall door of her mother's noble mansion as she strode towards her mother's mediation room.

Once she got there, she saw that the door wasn't sealed so unconsciously her speed increased, and she threw open the door, with her putting on the water works as she cried out.

"Mother! A big bully stole the mission in Shanghai that my sisters were going to take! He also called me a fool and made up a bunch of nonsense about not knowing what a Heavenly Foundation Cultivator is!"

Dao Zian's turbid qi filled eye's looked upon her spoiled middle child of her own and said slowly. "You... Haaa, you needed a Foundation Establishment Elixir to make a middle-grade foundation. You are from such a being."

Dao Xuer's mother paused before she frowned and said. "Wait... A new Heavenly Foundation stole your mission? What is his name? None of the other elder's disciples or descendants would bother with such a commission. Nor have I heard of any breaking through as any elder would celebrate such a disciples breaththrough greatly!"

Dao Xuer's face at this point had turned ruddy with annoyance as she spat out. "Ha!? What do you mean mother? What is so great about this heavenly foundation nonsense! He doesn't even have an Elder disciple badge and just became a normal disciple from the Outer Court!"

There was a pause as Dao Zian's face pinched before she visibly took a deep breath and said flatly. "A Heavenly Foundation is where a cultivator's inner essence is far heavier and more pure then external spiritual energy which requires both extreme talent. As well as a heavenly treasure that perfectly fits them. Which allows them to passively absorb spirit energy and refining it without needing to meditate to do so."

"Now... My foolish daughter, who is this new Heavenly Foundation cultivator?" She finished more sternly.

At her harsher voice. Dao Xuer knew not to play any further so she quickly said. "It's some commoner named Jake Bariss, Some 'talent' taken into the sect out of pity or something."

The room went utterly silent as Dao Zian's face went stiff at the name Jake Bariss and she looked at Dao Xuer with something akin to horror.

'Xiaoli Shan's little disaster has met my own little terror... Which diety have I offended for this mess to land on my lap this time!' Dao Zian inwardly screamed while outwardly remaining at peace visibly.

Then she took a deep breath and said slowly as she knew her arrogant, and spoiled. But still loved daughter woudn't understand even if she told her about that young man being a Child of Destiny that was being used by the Sect.

"Xuer... Treat Jake as another Elder's direct disciple. In fact, I may even-"

Dao Zian paused as she herself was only a low ranking Outer Sect Elder who was at the peak of Golden Core. She also already heard about Hanyo Yanying who got close to Jake got a heavenly chance and with her meridians cleansed. She basically was a post Heavenly Foundation as well!

'Could Jake also lead me to a chance oppurtunity that could break this bottleneck I have faced for the last decade?' Dao Zian wondered as she held a hand over her womb.

And past her hand she felt a ripple of scar tissue where her previous husband betrayed her after he thought she was taken advantage of by another man, when he was controlled in an illusion by an inner demon.

"Mother? What were you going to say?" Dao Xuer asked more quietly at seeing her mother's pained expression.

"Nothing... I was thinking that you and Jake Bariss should become closer. He is likely to become a Great Elder's disciple. Possibly even the Sect Master himself or the one of the retired elder's may even take him under their wings." Dao Zian said slowly.

But in reality. She was looking beyond her silly daughter and thinking about what true value she could get if she fell into the turbid water's of Jake Bariss's path of destiny.

Still she looked at her daughter and said more firmly. "What mission were you going to take in Shanghai anyway?"

And after Dao Xuer explained, her face twitched as she inwardly complained. 'Oh immortals above. Oh, Earth mother who is below. Why, why are you all being lazy and just trying to throw Jake into a dungeon that is going to be a life or death challenge for him to grow in!'

Dao Zian's voice was helpless as she said. "Xuer, make sure to follow Jake... As well as your eldest sister Mengdi. Don't let Xuan get hurt. And also make sure that Tuobi doesn't sell herself on accident."

Dao Xuer solemnly nodded but said helplessly. "I promise, Mother. But as for Tuobi... You know how she is. All she has in her mind is the way of the sword. And has zero social skills. Only Mengdi and you, mother can make her change her mind when she has her mind on something."

The elder waved her daughter off, and as Dao Xuer ran off to presumably go rally her other three sisters for some inane mischief, as she doubted that Xuer was going to properly prepare.

Then, with her meditation room left with the sweet, sweet silence of her most irresponsible daughter's absence. Dao Zian sighed helplessly.

"Please... Even if my daughters all come back pregnant, don't have them die to pave Jake's path of destiny." She said with her heart heavy

As all of her daughters were close to the same age were all... Very sheltered from the more hidden things of the cultivation world, and although not as arrogant as they could have become. They still looked down on people who came from the more mundane world.

A son of destiny WAS certainly going to fall into trouble. Inevitably dragging her daughters into that storm. What remained was whether they would ride that storm to fortune and an immortal chance. Or perish as their fortunes couldn't handle storm that was the chance Jake was going to fall into.

After a long moment, Dao Zian made a tsking noise and said with annoyance.

"I am not just going to leave things up to chance. That gorilla of a woman, Cai Xun, and her disciple, Zhu Yuan who dragged Jake into this Sect owe my daughters at least some level of safety! I can mooch some talismans and seals from Cai Xun to give my girls another layer of protection."
