Chapter 32 - Spiraling

"Though he tried to end it all, he was alive.

The process of how he was alive was not that important, but it was a fact he survived.

It was too long ago that he forgot why he was even here. Now that the lights were gone and the doors shut, this felt like hell for him. He didn't know how long had passed till now, but he felt that it was maybe hours or days, but he didn't know. As if something were stopping him, he couldn't even end it.

"Are you stopping me, Goldburg, from ending it? Why, just why, is everyone against me so much? It feels like hell, cooped up in this spot. This building and I, we both are only alive in this place. No one else is here. Goldburg, respond!!! Hey, Sirius, pal, are you there??" he talked to himself desperately. He remembered his passion for reading novels and his time over the past few months.

"If I go back, I won't be lazy. I will study, I will be top. I already stopped being a shut-in, so why is God torturing me so much? What wrong have I even committed? I KNOW READING NOVELS, WATCHING SHORTS, AND SELF-PITYING MYSELF IS TRASH, BUT IS IT A SIN? If it is, give me a chance to change," he said to no one in an unfocused manner. He wasn't sad; he was just going insane staying cooped up in this building. Now the tension of before was totally not there; it had all faded over time. It might be him repeating himself in madness like this over a long time. Who knew?

Though he didn't know, for him this was the safest place a person could ever get. The changes outside after the incident were terrifying; everything in this world was turning to ruin. Maybe everything would end soon, though maybe it wouldn't matter much to MC, as he was stuck inside this building where no light could pass through it. This building was in such a conspicuous place, such a place that no person found it out of the ordinary. Maybe they might find it out of the ordinary, but by then, would people even care about this building? The question was, would they even be alive by then? Anyway, that is for later. For now, let's enjoy time with him, shall we!%^%.

"What day is it? Good morning, me," he said to himself while scratching his stubble, which had grown down his neck.

"What should I eat today?" he said while going to the kitchen. There were lots of varieties of dried rations and cans. "Hmm, what about apple sauce?" he said while picking it up, turning on the stove, and starting to make it. On the side, he took out some crackers, and while munching on them, he was cooking. "Maybe I would be a chef, and it's not bad being away from all the devices and being one with nature. It can protect my eyes."

He went to the meeting room upstairs with his breakfast and sat on the head chair. All the seats beside it, on both sides, had papers on which different posts of the office were written, like head director, chief executive, HR, managers, and their posts.

"Hey, everyone, today's meeting is... well, we'll continue after my breakfast. Only I get to eat, and everyone be quiet. Only I talk. Okay? Remember THAT!" he screamed while slamming his palms on the table.

"Hehe, no one is objecting to me, so it's good. Let's start the..." he trailed off, only to say, "Yummm, the freshness of the apple is gone, dehydrated, but still, due to my cooking skills, its taste has gotten much better. It is a bit sweeter than a regular one, but its essence should be sweet, so it's good..." He was speaking to those figures that didn't even exist.

It might have been 10 minutes or more when he felt his mouth was sour and the food half eaten. "Patueeeh! Useless people, you guys have no spine at all. What is the use of you all working in my company? I should have fired you all."

"Sorry, boss, we will put in more effort. Please give us a chance," he said to himself in a meek voice.

"Okay, this is your final chance. If you fail, then you are fired," he replied in a rough tone while almost throwing the bowl to the ground."
