Chapter 122 - the sin of the guilty

As the wind started to carry the flakes of King Uryo's body it suddenly halted. The decay and blight of his body had begun to reverse.

Queen Rhene had long gone to another place, yet her husband's body remained in the world.

Had he not fulfilled his lifelong quest of finding his love again? Mist poured out of his torso. All the dragons had their mouths sewn and their eyes covered, because none should witness the fall of their king. But unbeknownst to those who avert their eyes, the fulfilment of guilt had yet to be granted.

Under the moon's gaze and hymn, Guilt was declared unforgiven.

Celestia had excommunicated guilt from the planes of euphoria. A place where people live their lives fulfilled, a desire which many people yearn for. His soul too tainted too blighted to exist, was rejected from existing in the realm of the dead.

"I always knew a day would come when both of us would walk on these heavenly gates together Rhene."

But as they continued their march into eternal freedom, Rhene loosened her grip and let go of her husband. Uryo stared at his wife with widened eyes before looking at his hands which had blood dripping from his palm.

He felt how the souls of the people he once had stolen leeched onto his calves preventing him from moving forward with his wife.

Rhene started to run back towards her husband trying to grab onto him.

But as she was about to hold his hand his body was slowly dragged into the ground.

"RHENE!"

She managed to catch his hand and with every ounce of her strength tried to pull him up.

The lives the King had taken started to blight her as well. Uryo saw how the darkness spread up towards his wife's arm and solemnly looked at her.

"Don't leave me again Uryo. Please, not again."

"Trust my words when I say I will tear down the skies to see you again."

King Uryo bit down on the arm his wife was trying to hold and tore it off with his own mouth, letting the souls drag him down.

Rhene watched in despair as his arm started to slowly fade into nothingness.

The queen's face contorted in sorrow and grief knowing that her pain would not be quelled for a few millennia more.

Just as she was to enter the aeonic realm and be rebirthed into a new soul, the moon's light shone down upon her. Then she heard that song which she had heard millions of times. The song which was from the moon, the song which only the Aeon of Desire sang.

Blue flowers bathing in moonlight were scattered across the fields with the hymn caressing them.

She looked at her hand, and they were not of an unfulfilled soul, they were the hands of a human.

Looking up at the massive crescent moon she saw how Celestia sat on top of the moon cradling an unfulfilled soul in her arms. The rest of them were sleeping around her as she sang.

"Ce…"

"Shh…" a voice behind her spoke out.

Rhene quickly turned around and saw Celestia who had been up on the moon, was now behind her.

"They are asleep," Celestia whispered.

With her hands behind her back Celestia started to walk out onto the fields of flowers and told Rhene to follow.

*Meanwhile*

The Aeon of Guilt was falling into an endless void. No matter how long he descended, he was continuing to fall. And as he fell, he felt the swords, the arrows, the halbards, the spears, all the weapons of whom he had slain embedded themselves into his body.

He scoffed as his limbs were mutilated.

"Is this how I will atone for my sins? Tell me, realm of Aeons."

"This is the sin of Guilt." A deep voice spoke out.

Uryo's body finally hit the ground, but it didn't turn into mush nor did he feel any pain.

His fall was caught by the arms of his fallen soldiers who carried him deeper into the darkness.

"Aeon of Desire, why is it you wish for the separation of us…"

The hands which carried him put him onto the ground. He bit into the ground and pulled himself forward with his mouth. Behind him, he left a trail of blood on the ground from all the wounds on his limbs.

Atlas saw a dim fire ahead of him, once he reached the fire he saw a muscular man sitting on top of a mountain covered with blades of fallen warriors.

The man had tattoos all across his body, stripes across his arms each representing a sin but one tattoo stood out from the rest. It was a tattoo of a half crescent moon on his chest.

He stepped down from his pile of weapons and took a seat right next to Uryo. Seeing the man come closer to the flames, the details started to show. The man's eyes had been cut out with a clear scar across the face and he was shirtless and only wore shorts. His hair was white as snow and his appearance was of a person in their 30s.

"Do you know why you are here?" The man asked.

Uryo remained silent as his vocal cords had been cut during his descent. The muscular man with tattoos introduced himself as Nocentis. The voyager whose sins tainted the world.

Nocentis crouched down to the once mighty King. Uryo's eyes filled with hatred as he realised what the person in front of him was.

"You, you are the vile Aeon leeching onto my body, keeping me in this world," King Uryo tried to mutter up but spat up blood instead trying to speak.

"I understand your hatred for us, but I share the same hatred for them as you."

Uryo calmed down a bit and tried to stand up. All his ligaments had been cut and he was barely getting up onto one knee.

The Aeon of Guilt quietly watched as Uryo struggled to get up on his own.

"King of the Dragons, do you wish to know why you were chosen to become the vessel of guilt?"

Trying to speak, Uryo opened his mouth just for blood to seep out of his oral opening.

"Then I shall tell you. King Uryo, you had committed one of the gravest sins a King could commit. You sacrificed your people for a selfish wish. But I believe we are similar in one way or another. The man held his hand over his moon tattoo."

Nocentis told Uryo that his time has yet to conclude on the planet. Even if he ascended with a fulfilled soul, he was ripped away from his eternal euphoria. Therefore it was up to the Aeon to decide whether they let the soul pass or not.

"The Aeon of Desire rejected your existence with Rhene. She allowed for the Queen to pass but not alongside you."

Rage swelled up inside of Uryo as he heard those words.

"I will help you." Nocentis touched Uryo's chest and rekindled the mark of Guilt.

Another tattoo was branded onto Nocentis as he finished rekindling the Aeon of Guilt onto Uryo.

"We will see each other again soon enough."

Vivshi and the rest of them watched in terror as Guilt's body slowly started to regenerate. His crumbling limbs were reforming and his body started to ooze green mist.

Thinking quickly Vivshi grabbed Aylin's body and ran away from there with everyone following him.

Aylin was back in Vivshi's hands, her vitals stayed stable and she was breathing but something was wrong.

Turning around I saw a terrifying sight of the King of the Dragon's eyes piercing through me.

But that's when from the skies we heard a loud vengeful scream calling out to the Aeon of Guilt.

Uryo's body had yet to fully regenerate when the Silver Saint slammed into him from the skies.

A crater was left in the ground as Uryo's body was being beaten into a pulp whilst also turning into silver.

We looked up into the sky and saw that none of the dragons were flying anymore, because all of them had been turned into mirrors for the moonlight.

The Silver Saint continued beating King Uryo leaving him no seconds to recover, that was until a bolt of lightning struck him through the chest which sent him flying into a building.

"Time for a rematch, bitch." Wolte stood proudly in front of the rubble holding loxes in his hand.

The Silver Saint exploded all the debris off of him and when he looked up he saw that he was surrounded by multiple Monarchs.

Nale had also thawed himself out of the silver and stood with his arms crossed. Earlier he had ordered an emergency call for all the Monarchs to come to the capital.

All of them stared down the Silver Saint.

The Silver Saint took a deep breath before screaming out in rage for all of them to come at him.
