The "Dark Pulse" aura unleashed by Darkrai, after bouncing off the reflector panels, directly knocked out every Pokémon present.
In just an instant, the hundreds of Pokémon on the field were all knocked unconscious without exception. Regardless of their strength or rarity, none could resist the terrifying aura and avoid fainting with no power to fight back.
"As expected of the strongest survivor among the 300 people on Nightmare Island; the Trainer who single-handedly wiped out Team Nightmare."
At Fallarbor Town, in the Fallarbor Gym, a woman wearing the Gym uniform silently watched the scene on the television screen.
From the moment she saw Darkrai, she knew there was no suspense left in this event.
As the assistant Gym Leader of Fallarbor Gym, Kotoko had been watching this festival just to follow Terrance, but the appearance of Albus had sparked a much greater interest in her.
Terrance hadn't told Kotoko about Darkrai, so when she saw that the Darkrai from Nightmare Island had been captured by Albus, her emotions were deeply conflicted. After all, this Darkrai could be called the nightmare of all the Team Nightmare's test subjects.
"In terms of strength, this Darkrai probably isn't any weaker than that Lucario." Wallace looked calmly at Albus, wondering where this Trainer had suddenly emerged from.
With Albus's strength, he was already strong enough to be an Elite Four member in a small region similar in size to Alola.
"Get me in touch with Elite Four Glacia"
After witnessing the end of the Dark-type event, Raoul Contesta fell silent for a moment before instructing his assistant to quickly contact the Hoenn League official in charge of this festival.
The appearance of Leo and Albus had already disrupted the balance between Coordinators and Trainers in this festival.
There were people who could keep Leo in check, but among the two Coordinators who had advanced, Terrance and Fantina, he didn't believe either of them had the strength to match Albus.
...
The Ice-type specialist and one of Hoenn's Elite Four, the Ice Beauty Glacia, sat calmly in her chair, greeting Raoul Contesta, whose expression didn't look too good, with a smile: "Mr. Raoul Contesta."
"Miss Glacia," Raoul Contesta exhaled and said, "You probably know why I've come, so I'll get straight to the point."
"If things continue along this path, and we end up with three Coordinators and three Trainers advancing, then it will lead to head-to-head battles between the Coordinators and the Trainers."
"Without a doubt, only Wallace would be a match for Leo. As for that Trainer named Fujiki, either Fantina or Terrance could handle her. But this Albus, based on the strength he's shown, I don't believe either Terrance or Fantina can deal with him."
"Out of the three battles, at least two victories must go to the Coordinators' side in this festival."
"I understand your concern," Glacia said as she took a sip of tea. "You mean to say that since Albus is participating using a fake ID, it's entirely possible to detain him for a few days over that, am I right? Or, use that as a reason to make him voluntarily withdraw from the upcoming battle segment."
Raoul Contesta's expression froze, and he didn't respond to that topic: "I only care about the result."
"Why don't we look at it another way?" Glacia smiled. "It's not necessarily Wallace who has to fight Leo, is it?"
"For example, let Ms. Fantina battle Leo, have Wallace face Albus, and let Terrance fight Fujiki. That way, as long as Wallace and Terrance win, wouldn't that still meet your 'two out of three' requirement?"
Glacia's words instantly looped Raoul Contesta into her logic. After a brief moment of daze, he realized that what she said actually made sense.
Although Albus was very strong, he was still a notch below Wallace.
"I assume that rigging the final battle segment a bit to make this grouping happen shouldn't be too difficult, is it?"
Raoul Contesta remained silent, then suddenly raised his head and studied Glacia: "Don't tell me… you've already made contact with Albus?"
Glacia said nothing at first. After a while, she smiled and said, "It just isn't wise to make enemies of such a promising junior."
"Forget it. There may still be unexpected developments in the Dragon-type event, we'll discuss this again later." Raoul Contesta sighed. "Why is it… that I have this persistent feeling of unease?"
Leo had come to the festival for Wallace; that was no longer much of a secret. The original plan was to have those two face off in the final battle, because they were the only Trainers on the same level… That was the main reason Raoul Contesta hadn't given much thought to the match arrangements at the time.
Now that he thought about it, arranging the matches as Glacia had suggested might not be a bad idea after all.
After all, the primary goal of this festival was simply for the Coordinators to win.
As for personal grudges, taking those into consideration would only add unnecessary complications.
At this point, there was only one event left in the festival. Raoul Contesta's mind recalled the dozens of applicants. Among those, the Contestant most likely to claim victory, in his opinion, was Terrance.
He still remembered Terrance's Altaria.
Comparing its performance to that of Mismagius, Castform, and Beautifly, that Altaria probably wouldn't perform badly at all.
Moreover, among the six contestants who had advanced, only Terrance was participating in this Dragon-type event. That gave him a significant advantage.
…
This Dragon-type event was also being held at Sootopolis plaza.
Compared to the other events, this one was much easier for spectators to watch directly.
Because there were fewer than 100 Contestants, and each would likely take only about a minute, the entire event would probably be over in two or three hours.
As Terrance walked down the road, he suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around and saw a blonde woman.
"I remember, you're called Shivana, right?" Terrance smiled. "I know your sister."
The blonde woman was none other than Shivana, cousin of Cynthia, the current Champion of the Pokemon World Tournament Junior Cup.
"A lot of people know her," Shivana replied calmly. "But more importantly, you know Albus, don't you?"
"Uh… I guess you could say that." Terrance suddenly recalled; this was probably the person who had followed Albus all the way here from Sinnoh after being defeated by his Darkrai.
This one's pretty persistent.
"Looks like you're also planning to take part in this event. But even if it's for the sake of getting another match against him, although you're very strong, I'm not going to hand over the victory in this event."
Shivana's expression was firm, as if she was determined to win this event at all costs. Terrance thought about it; she probably did have the qualifications. Cynthia's ace was supposedly Garchomp, a Dragon type, and this Shivana might also have exceptional mastery over Dragon types.
On top of that, she was a genius Trainer to begin with… But unfortunately, she'd run into someone like Albus, who was practically a cheat.
Watching her departing back, Terrance grinned. If she wanted to defeat him… maybe her sister could manage that, but her?
Not likely.
