Speechless for a moment, Marco could tell from that gaze—innocent to the point of brainlessness—that Luffy was being sincere.
"Do you have some kind of misunderstanding about Mythical Zoans?"
There are countless Mythical Zoans, but this was the first time Marco had seen anyone able to summon creatures. Even after dealing with the Beasts Pirates for so many years, he had never witnessed something like this.
If he had that ability, the power balance among the three Emperors of the Sea would be very different by now.
As long as someone capable of leading stepped forward, the Whitebeard Pirates would have enough foundation to reclaim the position of Emperor of the Sea.
"Aren't you a Mythical Zoan?"
"I am."
"Then isn't she a Mythical Zoan too?"
"Probably…yeah."
Just a few minutes ago, Marco could have said that with confidence. Wasn't it just that the elemental composition was a bit more complex, switching between lightning, fire, and ice?
As for summoning strange creatures, that wasn't entirely incomprehensible. Pato had already summoned quite a few people.
Of course, there was a price to pay for this. The price of summoning creatures at will was that Pato's combat ability in his true form was very low; he could only act as Redfield's support and tool raccoon dog.
But someone like Yamato, who herself had strong combat power, a variety of elemental attributes, and could even summon creatures. Marco had never heard of such a thing.
Even among Mythical Zoans, this was way beyond the norm.
He'd seen very clearly the power of that attack just now, and he'd felt the force of the explosion's shockwaves. The shockwaves alone were enough to trigger his own ability to start healing itself, so the actual power went without saying.
There's no way an attack like that would just disappear on its own. That Yamato was able to stop it made her even more terrifying.
Luffy's mind hadn't processed all this. His special way of thinking led him to a new conclusion based on what Marco had said.
Marco is a Mythical Zoan, Yamato is also a Mythical Zoan. In that case, Marco should be able to use this move too. If he can't, then he must be too weak.
If Paramecia-type fruits could change the environment after awakening, then it's only reasonable that Zoan-type fruits, after awakening, could become great summoners.
"Hey, hey, what's with that look in your eyes? Normal Mythical Zoans can't do that, okay? That woman is a special case!"
Luffy's questioning look made Marco feel pretty uncomfortable.
Marco and Ace were both captains, but there was a big age gap between them.
In terms of age, let alone being a big brother, he was old enough to be Ace's father. Now, being questioned by Ace's younger brother, he felt his dignity slowly fading away.
It was only after Marco's repeated assurances that Luffy finally believed this was just a special case.
"What a pity. I was actually kind of jealous of Mythical Zoans. If all Mythical Zoans could summon like that, they'd really be interesting."
"Why are you jealous of other people's abilities? That's not like you at all."
Ace asked Luffy. Normally, Luffy might be interested in someone else's powers, but he wouldn't be jealous. The current situation was a bit unusual.
"Because Mythical Zoans all seem to be very strong, capable of fighting for days and nights. In my current state, I can't keep going that long."
At this moment, Luffy had once again reverted to his normal form. Gear 4 consumed a ridiculous amount of Haki. If he didn't grow stronger quickly, he simply wouldn't be able to handle the increasingly tough battles in the New World.
"But Hercules, you seem to be able to use that kind of barrier that blocks attacks too."
Having just been jealous of someone else's ability, Luffy suddenly seemed to realize something odd and looked back at Hercules behind him.
Just when Hercules thought Luffy had finally used his brain and realized something important, reality told Hercules the truth.
"You'll definitely be able to reach that level too."
"...."
Pokémon can break through their limits, but there's still a cap. Things like Caterpie using Electroweb to defeat Rayquaza only happen in video games.
In reality, that's absolutely impossible.
Even if Fairy-types are the nemesis of Dragon-types, an ordinary Fairy-type Pokémon couldn't withstand Rayquaza's Dragon Claw. The disparity in power is enough to tear that small body apart. Even if the type counteracts it, the remaining impact from the claws would still be fatal.
Luffy's expectation of it was pretty much the same. But it was just a unique type of bug, and asking it to do this was truly making things difficult for it. After thinking it over, Hercules felt it was more meaningful to just make a few more pickaxes.
"Ahem... What on earth is that thing?"
Sanji crawled out of the dust. His luck wasn't great; several rocks, propelled by the shockwaves, had smashed into him, leaving him looking even more disheveled. Not long after he got out, he saw Robin using her cloak as a shield.
This cloak was an accessory upgraded by Queen in the later stages, with even better performance than Germa's shield cape, though its nature was basically the same. This left Sanji, who had a deep impression of Germa, with equally complicated feelings.
Law, meanwhile, was staring intently upwards, his thoughts once again unsettled by the sudden turn of events. It was at that moment he noticed several shadows gradually falling.
"Something's falling down!"
Boom!
An unknown object crashed into the ground in front of him, smashing a large pit, with broken metal parts scattering everywhere.
The edges showed marks as if they'd been welded, and the internal wiring and such were completely burned. This was the Mother Flame, torn apart by Zekrom.
Compared to Reshiram's high-temperature vaporization, Zekrom's physical destruction left behind much more debris.
But no matter who it was, there was no way to restore something destroyed to this extent. At this point, it was nothing more than scrap metal.
The shredded metal bits continued to scatter, indirectly letting everyone here know what this thing above them had been.
It also clearly showed the fate of this weapon.
Swish! Swish!
Redfield swung his umbrella twice toward the sky. This wasn't his original umbrella, but one Pato had drawn into existence with his ability.
For Redfield, who was used to wielding umbrellas, this type of weapon was more effective than swords.
Under Redfield's attack, the remaining falling debris above were also completely destroyed.
"This kind of power... why didn't you use it earlier?"
Redfield looked at Yamato, suspicion in his eyes. Judging from how she had just swung her weapon to neutralize the shockwaves, she still had energy to spare. If Yamato had summoned those two dragons earlier, forming a three-against-one situation...
No, even without a three-against-one. Judging by the current situation, Redfield felt his limit would be handling just one of them. If even one dragon had helped Yamato, the original stalemate would have been broken in an instant.
"Uh... Actually, that part isn't really my power. I really did give it my all just now; it's just that there's still something special I haven't used yet."
"So, you're saying that wasn't your strongest form just now?"
"If you want to see it that way... I guess that's not wrong."
"Hahahaha, I really am getting old. The changes on the sea over these past few decades have grown more and more bizarre."
Of course, Redfield still had a few desperate moves up his sleeve, but compared to the twin dragons, those trump cards were worlds apart.
"I really would like to see you going all out for real. What a shame, now's not the right time."
Redfield wasn't exactly a battle maniac, but he was still curious about what the true peak of the seas was like.
In this era where Roger and Whitebeard have both passed away, it's a blessing for him that there are still worthy opponents left on the seas. If it were another situation, he would definitely continue fighting, but this time was different.
"The Marines, or the World Government, using these kinds of methods means they want something to completely disappear. If we keep staying here, who knows if they have something even more powerful.
That would be devastating for this island. Since you want to keep him, then let him stay with you for now. Once I get used to this era, I'll come looking for you again."
Redfield no longer had any intention to keep fighting. Judging from the previous attack, the World Government was willing to destroy the entire Dressrosa to eliminate certain people.
Redfield agreed to Rebecca's request, but Rebecca's wish was simply to free her country from Doflamingo and to see Doflamingo defeated.
If they stayed here any longer, there was no telling what the World Government would do.
If all of Dressrosa was destroyed, achieving that goal would be meaningless.
Even if the Marines retreated, they wouldn't go far. If the fighting continued, Redfield figured he'd end up like decades ago, letting the Marines reap the spoils again.
If he wanted a proper fight, he at least needed an environment without outside interference.
"Rebecca, I'm afraid I can't fulfill the previous agreement for now. I'll look for an opportunity after a while."
"No, it's fine, you've already… helped a lot…"
The battle on the King's Plateau had long since gone beyond Rebecca's understanding. Even if Yamato and Redfield hadn't fought, just what Doflamingo showed was already beyond her understanding.
Only now did she truly realize how naive her previous thoughts had been.
"Still, this counts as breaking my word, so I'll handle the follow-up matters before I leave."
Redfield planned to leave Dressrosa right in front of the Marines, and could use Pato's ability to create a few decoys to confuse them. With all the dangerous elements already gone from Dressrosa, the World Government would have no reason to target an affiliated nation.
That was how Redfield saw it, but as for how things would actually turn out, he couldn't say for sure.
Having reached an understanding with his client, Redfield made way.
Yamato had no intention of lingering here either. After sending out the rendezvous location with her Rotom, she dragged Doflamingo away by the collar.
"Wait—"
"Straw Hat-ya, the plan's changed. Let's leave it at that for now."
Law sat on the ground, feeling a bit exhausted. It seemed like he would have to rearrange his plan all over again.
"Brother Katakuri, what do we do?"
"Let's head back to Whole Cake Island. Things have gotten chaotic enough this time. Even Mama should understand when she sees the news."
Katakuri didn't care at all what would happen to Dressrosa; his only headache was Charlotte Linlin.
Compared to Kaido's unreliability, Charlotte Linlin was even more so in many cases. He couldn't guarantee that she wouldn't go berserk over this.
Though Charlotte Linlin wouldn't do anything to him, if any of his unlucky siblings happened to cross Big Mom at a time like this, they would truly be in for a world of suffering.
"Be careful when we get back, try to talk as little as possible. If anything comes up, let me handle it."
"Brother Katakuri, didn't you say Mama would understand?"
"Mama will understand the situation here, but she might not accept other things. Many years ago, she tried to arrange a marriage alliance with Kaido but never received his approval. She is probably going to be in an even worse mood this time."
Shaking his head, Katakuri also headed toward the evacuation point. As for Kaido's actions, Katakuri could understand. Having such a daughter, there was no way he would ever marry her off, let alone use her as a tool for a political marriage.
