"Shi'er, are you listening to me?" Mrs. Sheng was a person who lacked patience, and seeing Sheng Shi silent and unresponsive, she spoke up, urging him again.
Sheng Shi nodded, indicating he had heard her.
Mrs. Sheng seemed addicted to the topic, "Shi'er, although you aren't particularly old, you're aware of the heavy responsibilities you carry."
Sheng Shi felt a headache coming on, not knowing when he too became part of the cohort being pressured into marriage. He quickly finished the food in his bowl, then put the bowl down on the table. He lifted his slender, fair fingers, rubbed his ears, glanced at Mrs. Sheng, paused, and said, "I'm full, you guys take your time eating, goodnight."
Then he went upstairs.
Leaving behind an infuriated Mrs. Sheng, grinding her teeth in anger.
Sheng Shi returned to his room, sprawled lazily on his bed, turned on the TV, and watched it absentmindedly.
