"No, I suppose you are right," sighed Pippa. "It's a pity about his looks, though."
I remained silent, not bothering to mention to her that I happened to like his looks. Mind you, I also liked his before look, too. As long as she or Stargazer thought that his transformation had to do with government experiments than with me, I was good.
I didn't need them to know I was Subject 1. I had enough crap to deal with.
"Was there anything else I was supposed to talk to you about?" she asked me as she cocked her head to the side.
"You're asking me?" I replied, wondering what on Earth was going on in her brain. Then again, I had the sinking suspicion that there was nothing going on in her brain.
"Your drink," she said, holding up her index finger. "Not interested, don't bother," I replied concisely. Especially now that I had documented proof of what that drink was supposed to do to the humans who consumed it and its unintended side effects.
