Dong Shin clenched his fists, his head buzzing.
"I… I made a mistake," he finally said in a low voice. "I acted out of anger, in the heat of the moment."
But Wang Qingshan slammed the table again.
"Then why did you lie about it first?" he barked. "If it was just a mistake, you would've admitted it! Instead, you denied it, covered it up, and tried to throw others under the bus!"
Dong Shin's shoulders tensed.
Wang Qingshan stood up slowly.
"Is this how you train your soldiers?" he asked. "To play politics? To frame others? To destroy the last hope of humanity?"
He took a deep breath, then looked Dong Shin straight in the eyes.
"You've held your position for too long. You've forgotten what the military stands for. You've forgotten humanity."
Dong Shin's heart dropped.
No way…
"I want you to step down," Wang Qingshan said firmly. "From this moment, you are no longer Captain Dong Shin. You are officially demoted."
Dong Shin's world spun.
