When the pope said there is no way to increase their number of skills, many students who were anxious about their Skills became downhearted so. When Lotario began to say something again, everyone Listened on with hope.
"It's good to see you all excited well, Skills aren't my forte therefore, Sir William will explain it all to you."
'I guess there is no concept of skill points in this world.'
After Lotario said that he gestured to the knight standing behind him to take the stage.
"Let's get started then shall we."
As soon as he said that we were all taught by the knight captain how to see our status.
"Alright, you kids all understood that right? Again, to view your status you must concentrate on your strength and then say, 'Open Status, it's very easy!" It will be hard at first but after some time you will all get used to it. So, don't worry about it" The knight captain had a very informal way of speaking. When asked about it, he had simply said, "We'll be comrades fighting together on the battlefield, so no point in being so stiff with each other!" and even urged them to speak casually with all the other knights.
Kelly and the others found his friendly attitude pleasant. They would have found it awkward to have people far older than them showing them respect anyways.
"After you say, 'Open Status,' you'll see your current stats displayed on the screen in front of you, it'll look like your status is visible to others but don't worry, no one other than you can view your status, unless you have the right skills like our Pope, that is! Oh, and don't bother asking me how it works. I've got no clue. These things are same from ancient times; some call it a Gift from the creator! Well, it's a convenient system so, you won't hear me complaining!" the knight Captain said with a jolly laugh.
But for the students it was quite normal. It's nothing out of the ordinary for another world to have, status system. Or so, they believed.
"Now once you all are satisfied with viewing your own status come forward and place your hands on these platforms for your identification."
"Well, I say identification but basically when you place your hands on these platforms, it'll view your status as is and then that status will be copied to a plate, but that status on your card will not change with increase in your level. But still, with your basic information same even if you level up, it makes good identification plates. And don't forget, this your time to flaunt your status in front of us isn't."
"And don't ask me how it works, it's a national secret" The Knight Captain said with a strained smile.
"Even you don't know Sir William."
'Well, that's true if they are using these plates as identification cards, they can't let someone mass produce it, it'll be disastrous otherwise,'
Every year new plates were produced under the strict supervision and control of the Holy Church in this nation as it doesn't only help them find people with rare skills and magic but also helps them keep a count of their population and not to say how reliable they are to identify someone.
The students all nodded in affirmation as they listened to his explanation. Once it was finished, they all gingerly closed their eyes and started concentrating. They were all surprised how easy it was and then in unison.
"OPEN STATUS" echoed throughout the room.
