Chapter 7 - Boot Camp 2

We received basic survival training first. Basic stuff you know, how to start a fire, how to make weapons, and what to and not to eat. Stuff that won't let you immediately die. We slept on bunk every night, receiving inspection checks on our bunk. Checking if they were tidy or look like a pigsty.

During the first few months, I made a couple of friends I guess. I wouldn't really call them friends but they were closer with me than the rest of the trainees. There are three of them, Rodriguez the short Mexican who had actually put in some weight and looked pretty good all things considered. He had Hazel eyes, brown hair, and a bit above average face in my opinion. He is human despite his smaller stature... I asked him if the was a gnome or something and promptly got toss around by him. Despite his small stature he's got some strength.

Then there was Murphy, he was around 5'10 in height while also looking rather burly, Brown hair, and forest greens eyes. He Also had a very dark skin tone, but was definitely not human in the sense that he was actually an elf, and no he is a not a dark elf. I actually asked him about that and got knocked upside the head, and called me stupid. Apparently, dark elf and normal elf are defined by the power they a linked to. Elf being linked to their world tree and dark elves being linked to... actually we don't know what dark elves are linked to. He did although tell me I was somewhat right for assuming him to be a dark elf, since although not all dark elves have a dark skin tone, but about 78% do.

Lastly there was Yadiel, he was really tall, so tall that even at my 6'5 stature, my head only reached his shoulders. He has white skin, blond hair, and he was dryad. He looked really human which caught me by surprise when he told me he was about 75% a dryad. He was actually really handsome, but rather timid in the sense that he stuttered when nervous and show a lot of hesitation of doing anything remotely scary but when needed he rationalized himself, actually braving it through.

Those were the three I had spent most of my training with. As we all went through training, I decided become a medic and went through the system eventually getting qualified for it.

---------

I walked into class at about eight thirty in the morning and sat down. I waited about about thirty five minutes until it started.

"Everyone take your seats"

I looked toward the front at the skinny, human professor who began rambling on about painkillers and other drugs a medic would have. Then he got to something interesting. something all medics carry, but also will never have more than two of. Health potions. He rambled on about the fact we should carry more but finally went on with the explinations.

"Even despite the magic in the world, the health potion that every adventurer and hunter took was actually not a concoction but rather monster blood. Blood that is diluted down so that it loses it effect of poisoning, Hallucinations, curses, and cysts. The potion is more powerful, the less it is diluted but, you need an antidote for those or you can and will get the above symptoms. The last symptom, cysts is only cause by drinking straight monster blood, they take the same form as if you have a Trichinella, aka a parasitic worm from undercooked pork. Although they don't exactly act the same, the have similar symptoms and well.... painfulness."

"The other potions such as mana potions are concocted with herbs. This is a very distinct difference because if you are offered a healing potion check the thickness of it. There are people who concoct poison that look like health potions but are not. The only real was to tell the difference is by thickness. If its like water then it is fake and should not be used."

I kept listening before eventually discarding the last part since I wouldn't be receiving potion from anywhere else but the military.

I know it been literally 2 years since I posted, but I have been fighting with myself to sit down and do this. Frankly writing to me is boring and fun at the same time. I need motivation to write and just so happen to never have it. either way I'm gonna try and post some more because I have story ideas that need to be written out or I feel like im wasting my time thinking about them.
