"You are right." Liberty Lion chuckled as she double checked to make sure that Murdoc was unconscious. "Seems I was right. I had an assumption when it appeared but your outfit confirmed it." She then took off her false face to reveal her identity.
Just like before she was Peggy Carter. But not his world's Peggy Carter. "I assume I am not just getting read in on these portals and how to deal with them?" Ethan asked as he moved to grab his things and change. He would have to leave before Murdoc woke up.
"You are correct." Peggy chuckled. She looked to be in her late forties or fifties with her hair only starting to gray. "There are several things I need to tell you about. But I will come to you in America to talk about it. First we should leave here before he wakes up."
"We are just leaving him here?" Ethan asked in surprise.
"Yes, your world's Carter left specific directions for what we should do if he returns. Which is ironically still going to be your problem but that is likely to be something you have to figure out later." Peggy explained. "Now let's hurry, there is no telling when a Hilt like him will wake up."
"Don't be mean," Ethan chuckled as he grabbed his things and walked out with Captain Carter. He should figure out something else to call her. Because that could get confusing eventually. "What should I call you?"
"Eva. I have been going by it long enough." Liberty Lion told him as they walked down the stairs. "I have my own ride home. So good luck." She separated from him when they arrived at the bottom floor. She went out through the back door. While he disappeared out of a side door.
He quickly made his way back to the airport through a roundabout course. But even then he had to sneak in the hangar when he spotted the well dressed guards standing outside the door with a limo nearby. When he got in the hangar, dropping through a window he glanced around.
He saw his Umbros Private Military guards standing and glancing around. The pilot looked towards him and was about to speak. But Ethan motioned for him to stay quiet. Then pointed at the aircraft. He nodded and they quickly started pouring into the aircraft. The pilot jumped in first while the copilot began looking around the aircraft. The guards followed Ethan up the stairs.
There were only four guards. But they were all heavily armed. They were originally not supposed to leave the plane. But it looks like they were forced to when his cousins came looking for him.
He pulled out his phone and called the airport tower informing them he was leaving. He was given the okay a second later.
But after he hung up he received a call from the person he had labeled as 'Bothersome'. He sighed and answered, "Hello, what do you want?"
"Ethan, what do you think you are doing?" A woman's voice asked sternly. He recognized the voice as one of his older cousins.
"Passing through. Why do you ask?" Ethan asked cheekily as the plane pulled out of the hangar. The door closed and sealed after the co-pilot came up the stairs.
"Ethan, do not play with me. You may be the Patriarch of the entire family and the Hilt branch. But you are still obliged to follow the rules. You have to come and pay respects to Granny." She told him with a hint of anger.
"Bah! That is only if I am in England, but I am technically not in England. Make sure you tell Granny immediately. She will understand what I mean. Even if it goes over your tiny brain." Ethan then hung up and glanced out the plane's window to see his cousin's limo pull around to the side of the hangar. Then she stepped out in a red dress, she was looking quite beautiful.
His phone rang again and he answered. "Ethan, do not hang up this time."
"Sorry cousin but there is nothing to talk about. Did your men call you out of date?" Ethan chuckled as he asked.
"Yes they did. Granny has been considering moving to the United States. Apparently running a criminal empire has become too boring for her. She wants to see what you are up to in the states." His cousin informed him.
"Oh boy. Okay, I will keep that in mind. I am going to have to remodel some of the older buildings." Ethan frowned. "Have a good date and tell me if you need any support in snatching control. Compared to the others you are my favorite."
"No, I am good." He could hear her sigh, "actually if you could find me a decent husband or boyfriend it would be great. Or even better, you and I can hook up a few times. We are distant enough that it won't matter."
"I will consider it." Ethan chuckled at the idea. "Tell me if you are flying to America. You really do look good in that dress." He then hung up and caught the Umbros guards staring at him. He shrugged, "Our closest relation is a pair of our ancestors who were siblings, that was about five generations ago."
—----------------------
Murdoc woke up groggily and pulled himself up off the floor. He looked around and frowned. Then he looked down at his body and pulled something out of it. It was like a needle. He remembered coming out of the portal and then he was shot. By some woman who was waiting at a table. The table was still there.
But the woman and the other guy were gone. He turned around and saw the portal was gone as well. He looked around for a moment before he began groggily moving down the hall. This was the same hotel. But this place was completely rundown.
As he walked by the window he froze and looked out at the city. "Huh." He then walked quickly to the stairs and down to the bottom floor. He then moved to the front door and froze when he got there. It was boarded up.
He frowned and walked to the side door. He opened it up and glanced down at the muddy ground. There were tire tracks running towards a street. He walked down the street and realized this area was run down. There were also very few people.
Murdoc groaned and walked down the street. He walked a few miles when he arrived at a building that was populated. It seemed to be a police station. There were plenty of people in blue and yellow who were moving around.
He walked up and into the building. The police officer at the front desk looked at him and frowned. He had probably not processed the blood on his clothes. Or the various other things that might be illegal.
"Hello… Officer Jimmy, can you get the number for the Shield Communication Bureau?" Murdoc asked, getting a confused look in response.
"Do you mean Shield, as in the international intelligence agency?" The officer asked. Causing Murdoc to hum.
"I suppose I do." Murdoc nodded.
"I can get that for you. But couldn't you just get that easily online?" The officer asked, causing Murdoc to be confused himself.
"I just need the number and to borrow a landline." Murdoc told him. The officer nodded and wrote down a number on a note before putting the desk phone and the note on the counter.
"Here you go." The officer then stepped to the side. He was looking down at something.
Murdoc dialed the number and picked up the phone. It was like some of those plastics the tech guys were always working on. "This is the Shield Hotline, how can we-"
"Murdoc, A dash seven. Chronos Protocol." Murdoc quickly interrupted the woman that picked up the phone.
"Umm… give me a moment." There was then a song going on in the background. It was some type of repetitive rhythm.
Then someone picked the phone up on the other end. "Hello, am I speaking to Murdoc Hilt?" The man asked.
"Yes, I am Murdoc Hilt. Who am I speaking to?" Murdoc answered.
"My name is Fury, I have sent people to pick you up and bring you to the United States. I will personally debrief you when you arrive. I would say do not resist but I doubt that will help. So please just willingly go along with the tests they conduct. Many things have occurred that make it possible to make a fake identity." The man explained. "If you are the real Murdoc Hilt then I will get you caught up on everything that has happened since you disappeared."
