Chapter 2 - First Subordinate

20 days have passed, Rimuru has already met with the goblins, traveled with Gobta to the great nation of Dwargon, met with Shizu, and has already absorbed Ifrit. At this point, the Orc Disaster arc should be starting, considering that I saw the approximately 200,000 orcs marching through the Great Forest of Jura.

My plans from now on will be to become a Demon Lord, but before that I plan to copy Rimuru's "Predator" and "Shapeshifter" skills, with which I can greatly improve my arsenal. At the moment I am still planning my encounter with him, and even more before that I have to get my first subordinate, in this case a named monster.

Returning to my little adventure in search of a subordinate while I was wandering in the forest I see a person in the way, that person was an Ogre not an adult but a child who appeared to be about 15 years old, and was a small girl about 167 centimeters tall, with long white hair very light and greasy, her eyes were of different colors, one of them being burnt yellow and the other being white like her hair, she was wearing a white dress, which was in rags. She was looking up with her eyes watering.

Thinking it was a good opportunity I approached her calmly, and stopped about 2 meters away, but before I could ask the question I had planned, her stomach started rumbling, she was hungry.

"...Are you hungry?"

"..." - She stared at me silently, before answering me "Mhm" Agreeing with my question.

When she nodded, I quickly copied a piece of Giant Wolf meat I had previously hunted and handed it to her.

((Great Erudite's Notes: The Unique Skill "Copier" can copy anything after the bearer understands what's going on behind that phenomenon, or item, thanks to the "Great Erudite" All Creation Sub Skill, understanding these phenomena is a piece of cake. Of course, the amount of magicules is also important)).

She spent a whole hour eating, apparently she was really hungry, the amount she ate was 2 Giant Wolves alone.

As I watched her eating I noticed that she was still tearing up, apparently holding back too much to not cry.

Of course, even though I already knew the reason, I decided to ask.

"...For what reason are you crying?" I asked

She stopped eating for a moment and suddenly bit her lip, preparing to speak.

"...My village... My friends..." She began, starting to cry "They were all killed by the Orcs, those damn Orcs!!!" - She cried out, with a voice filled with hatred and sadness.

"... I am so sorry..." - I said, knowing that was the reason.

"... It's not your fault..." she said as she wiped her tears.

"... Who would you be?"

"Ah, I apologize for not introducing myself yet, I'm a wanderer"- I replied, calmly.

"... Are you also a monster?"

"Yes... My name is Mika"

"...!" - Surprised she stands up, and prepares to ask me something, but I interrupt her.

"You want a name? Do you wish to avenge your village?" - I asked her, while pointing my hand in her direction. - "I can grant you that... On the only condition that you will serve me for the rest of your life."

She started to think, but appeared to be determined to get her revenge, raising her hand toward mine, and tightening her grip.

"I... I wish to take revenge! Please give me a name!" - She shouted as she tightened her grip on my hand and stared at me with eyes full of determination.

"Well then... I name you Shiro." - I replied to her.

She began to glow in a yellow light, while a stupendously strong aura came out of her. She had evolved.

<>

'!!!' - I was surprised that the Great Erudite had answered without my asking, maybe that was a good sign. 'Right... So her existence value is equal to Rimuru's at the moment?'

<>

'Heh, this is going to be interesting.'

'By the way Great Erudite, has she developed any Unique Skills?'

<>

'Hmm' - Thinking to myself I decide not to think too much about the skill for now. - 'Well, let's see what she'll do with it.'

A few minutes later, Shiro stepped out of the light.

"..." - Standing with her head down looking at her hands and thinking to herself, she lifts her head and looks at me. - "Master... Thank you so much for gracing me with a name, I promise to serve you for eternity, but first I need to complete my revenge."

"Hahaha, right. But I don't recommend you do that now, first let's go to the small goblin village located north of here, the leader of that village is a Slime named Rimuru, there will be some Kijin there from the same village as you. I think we'd better train there so you can get stronger, and besides I was already planning to go there anyway." - I was telling her.

"..." - Staring at me, she closes her eyes and smiles. - "If that is what you wish master, I will do it." - She repeated, in a happy souding voice.

And then the two of us headed toward Rimuru's village.

Shiro's POV

"..."

My parents sacrificed themselves while trying to defend me from those orcs, they shouldn't have been strong enough to be able to damage us, considering the strength of our species. But still, for some reason they did, and not only that, they were able to destroy our village.

I watched my friends being devoured by the orcs, while I ran away in fear that there was nothing I could do. I watched my parents and my older brother being devoured and killed by the orcs, while I was hiding.

I was desperate, hearing the desperate screams of my family and friends while I could do nothing. My older brother died in my arms and the last thing he said to me was "Please... Survive ...."

When he said that to me, I ran towards the forest while a cascade of tears flowed from my completely red eyes.

I spent a whole month in the forest, wandering around looking for a place to live until I came back to the village by pure coincidence. And I was faced with this horrible scene. The houses were completely burned, everything was completely destroyed, and I burst into tears again.

Suddenly to my surprise, someone appeared at my side, this person was a tall man with blue hair and eyes of the same color, he looked like an ogre, but he didn't have the same aura, he was wearing rags, very similar to me. This same person, after hearing the rumbling of my stomach, decided to help me.

"...Are you hungry?"

He had asked me, even though I had some hearing problems, due to my unstable emotional state, I could still hear him.

I stared at him for a while before answering. And then I mumbled and nodded my head up and down as a yes sign.

By the time I agreed, he had pulled a giant piece of wolf meat out of his hand. That had surprised me, but I was too hungry to pay attention to it at that moment.

He had handed me the piece, I was happy, it had been a whole month since I had eaten, there was no way I couldn't be happy.

But that happiness was false to me, after all, the hatred and sadness in my heart was still there. Because of this, every bite I took of that meat made my heart hurt more and more, because I was feeling guilty for having abandoned my family during the orcs' invasion.

After about 1 hour I had stopped eating, it was a surprise to me how much I had eaten, but it was understandable considering the time I had spent without eating.

"...For what reason are you crying?"

Suddenly this person had asked me the reason for my sadness. That had made me stop eating, I started to look at him, and said.

"...My village... My friends..." Just remembering I started to cry "They were all killed by the Orcs, those damn Orcs!!!" - I shouted, with a voice full of hatred and sadness

"... I'm so sorry..." He spoke to me, I felt in his words a genuine pity.

"... It's not your fault..." I spoke to him while wiping my tears "... Who would you be?"

"Ah, I apologize for not introducing myself yet, I am a wanderer" Calmly he answered me.

"... Are you also a monster?"

"Yes... And my name is Mika"

"...!" Surprised I stood up

At that moment I thought to myself 'A named monster... Maybe he can help me with my revenge...' And just before I could say anything, he said to me, as if reading my mind.

"Do you want a name? Do you wish to avenge your village? I can grant you that... On only the condition that you will serve me for the rest of your life." As he raised his hand toward me as if in a handshake gesture.

That was precisely what I needed, revenge. It was what I wanted, and I didn't care what I needed to do to complete it.

And then, coming out of my mouth almost instantly after I started thinking about revenge, I spoke to him.

"I... I wish to take revenge! Please grant me a name!" I shouted as I shook his hand facing him, totally focused on revenge.

"Well then...

"I name you Shiro."

As Mika named me, a yellow light covered my vision as I began to feel a warmth covering my entire body. That was the feeling of evolving, it was very satisfying, I was happy that someone like him had nominated me and also that I could finally start my revenge.

<<>>

I began to hear the voice of the world for the first time in my entire life, this was a very good sign for me as in addition to my evolution I had developed a Unique Skill.

A few minutes later my vision had returned to normal, I looked at my hands trying to check for any kind of change in my appearance, but apparently only my horns had become thinner.

Looking at Mika who was standing in front of me with a surprised face, I start to speak.

"Master... Thank you so much for gracing me with a name, I promise to serve you for eternity, but first I must complete my revenge."

I spoke to him, I had developed an appreciation for him after he helped me, probably those feelings got stronger after the nomination, not that it bothers me.

"Hahaha, right. But I don't recommend you do that now, first let's go to the small goblin village located north of here, the leader of that village is a Slime named Rimuru, there will be some Kijin from the same village as you. I think we'd better train there so you can get stronger, and besides I was already planning to go there anyway." He said to me casually.

Hearing him say that there were more survivors besides me, I was instantly relieved.

"..." Staring at him for a while trying to reason out my master Mika's request, I decided to just close my eyes and smile accepting the fact that now I am no longer alone.

"If it is what you wish master, I will do it." I spoke to him, happy to have someone on my side. And then we both set off in the direction of Slime Village.
