Chapter 30 - 1: Dreams And A Shower

A/N: I'm scrapping the idea for being a priest ;-;. I thought about it a lot and found the premise of being a priest without even thinking which god or what god to worship very confusing, so what I'm doing instead is to have our MC be a teen. Anyways college is a bitch it literally wasted this entire week making me go to campus, but no classes.

Also I'm basing our MC off my CYOA build.

To be honest waking up suddenly appearing in a ruined city isn't as bad as I thought

.

.

.

NOT!!! What in the actual f@$k!

I was just in the middle of my physics lecture, one drowsy blink later and I appear in an apocalyptic cityscape!

Now I don't know where I am. I have a sword from Nier, and two compasses pointing to who knows where. I am lost, alone and possibly in danger.

What could make this situation better?

Maybe some slow oversized black mutts with bone mask, sharp claws and red bloodlusted eyes moving towards me with murderous intent.

One, Two, Three, Four, Five...

'Are those beowolves?'

If those are what I think they are, then...

"How annoying"

And how depressing too. I just woke up, and now I'm destined to die. So much for an isekai.

'No way in hell am I just gonna die here'

So let's think this through for a second.

I'm in a ruined city with beowolves, so that means I'm in Remnant, and more specifically Mount Glenn.

I have a sword, two compasses, and clothes I came here with.

What are my options?

What can I do right now?

I know how to fight, but against monsters like that I don't think I can.

So maybe...

'Status?'

'Okay that explains why I'm thinking so fast, and if Sword arts are coded into my muscle memory then...'

That block of metal behind me sure looks good right now. And strangely I'm vaguely sure how brittle the road is.

'I can fight'

But let's take it slow for now, time to bolt.

Let's...

CRACK!

"go...OOOOOOO!?"

Thud! Thud!

Pweh!

"Uh I got dirt in my mouth"

My knee hurts.

What the heck was that? I expected the crack, but, I just stepped once and now I'm 10 meters away from where I started. It felt like I was stepping through drywall.

[Learning has activated, adjusting motor skills according to past data]

Okay what now? Clearly there was a disconnect between my coordination and what I perceived to be my body's capabilities, if [Learning] adjusted me it must've helped with that disconnect.

'Let's try this again. One step at a time'

Crack!

[Learning has activated]

Okay much better than before. Just now my control improved enough that I'm somewhat familiar with my current capabilities.

' With Aura I might be able to boost myself more '

.

.

.

No prompt really?

I guess it wouldn't be that easy.

GROWL!!!

I should take care of that.

This feels very exciting, my chest just thumping hard right now.

'Maximum Effort!'

CRACK!

WHIIIIISHHHH!

BOOM!

'It looks like Mal0 up close'

This sword in my hand can't thrust, but cleaving, cutting, and slashing are all on the table. It's a little heavy on the spine, so wide hacking should help me cut through.

'Let's go for the...'

"Head!"

Srng!

No resistance whatsoever.

'Maybe this will be a piece of cake?'

Wait, I counted Five beowolves earlier, why are there only Three in front of me. So that's what's behind me!

"Guh!"

Th-th-thump!

A warm feeling suddenly concentrated on my back, but I don't feel blood strangely enough.

[Shielding has activated : -300 AP]

[Learning has activated : Aura Manipulation (Basic) learned]

You fu#$! I may not have gotten hurt but still you fu#$.

I turn and see that Mal0 wannabe, and with one hand smash it down

Crack!

Followed by...

"JUSTICE RAINS FROM ABOVE B@#TH!"

Downward Slash + Enhanced Strength + Aura

WHOOSH!

Thwack! Crack! Splat! BOOM!

Dust kicked up, from that dust those other mutts lunged at me.

'Maybe I overreacted with that one'

No time for sympathies.

Hold your breath and throw!

"HUP!"

Swish!

' I'm such an idiot, now I lost my only weapon '

Very effective for splitting something in half though. I'll throw some hands I guess.

Duck and Smash the other mutts face.

Whoosh!

Crack!

Fist meet Bone mask and Road.

And other mutt meet a 1080° Kick.

BOOM!

Crash!

Whoosh

.

.

.

It's oddly quiet now. Oh look at that, they're disintegrating to dust now.

"Cough, cough...Ugh so much dust"

I really want a shower now. But seeing as there is quite literally nothing here but ruins, I might as well focus on finding civilization.

Take the sword and leave then.

' Mount Glenn is situated Southeast of Vale, the problem is that I don't even know where north is '

Oh right I have those compasses! Let's see then, I'm pretty sure I put them inside my jacket, and here we are!

Two ornate compasses, one black, and one white pointing to two different directions, no markings but...

' There's something engraved under these...'

'Maiden and Relic'

So they don't point north, but to the nearest maiden/relic?

'The nearest maiden from me should be either Raven or Cinder, and the nearest relic from here is the relic of choice...that means'

I should follow the white compass. Beacon is East of Vale, so with that as my reference point, I should head Northeast. I either hit Vale first, or end up in Beacon grounds, in which case.

' I'll probably be flagged as a dangerous and suspicious person '

Probably should head North first then go Northeast.

"..."

Yeah let's go with that.

———

"I had a dream last night. It was quite a rare occurrence.

A boy landed in Remnant, a soul from another world put into a vessel by the Gods themselves. Last time they intervened with humanity it led to the moon's shattering."

A pale woman sat on a bed muttering to herself inside a room devoid of any soul. The golden rays cast down from the sun through her windows, painting the room in shades of yellow.

"Armed with their blessings he's tasked with collecting the relics to call upon them, to bring the world together in peace."

She scowled at the thought, she saw how humanity itself longed for war and conflict; she knew how much of an impossibility the boy's task really was. And it was...

"A suffering most familiar"

She turned to the side just as the door to her room drew open. Then entered a woman wearing a red dress, with gold accents, exuding an aura of confidence, though it was tamed and suppressed before the pale woman.

"Master"

Cinder bowed slightly, her tone and posture both solemn, with a hint of fear and respect beneath.

The pale woman stayed silent, observing Cinder's form with scrutiny before looking out the open window of her room.

"Cinder, how are things proceeding in Vale?"

A sudden question out of curiosity and interest left the pale woman's lips, her thoughts lingering on her supposed dream.

A look of surprise shot across Cinder's face, her mind suddenly racing to think of any reason as to why her Master checked on her plans.

'Did I mess up?'

"Everything is proceeding smoothly, preparations have been done, and operations are about to start tonight."

Cinder knew better than to question the pale woman's intentions, those who did usually ended up in a ditch; with the exception of the more useful bunch. That said, it was still unusual. Usually the pale woman would rather have everyone report simultaneously to avoid wasting time.

The pale woman's expression didn't change. Cinder stood in silence, as a silent tension filled the room; it felt suffocating, heavy, as if the air in the room held weight.

"There's a young man in Vale. Black hair, with a jade-like sheen, accented by a harsh orange underneath. He carries a sharp slab of iron with no tip..."

A short pause followed Salem's words. A pause to think, a pause to evaluate her interest in that young man. Turning to the open window, she saw the wasteland she currently rules over;memories of the past that should've brought pain now felt numb, but perhaps such a pain doesn't have to be brought upon an innocent soul.

"...Find him and bring him to me."

"..."

Cinder failed to contain her shock at Salem's command. Words formed, but failed to come out, curiosity overshadowed by obedience and fear suppressed such thoughts.

"Understood."

With the short exclamation Cinder left, curiosity gnawed at her; temporarily replaced by cold focus.

' The original plan must come first, the search comes when the final preparations are ready. '

Cinder left for Vale with haste, as tonight was when the plan sets into motion.
