Onboard his massive airship descending towards the city, Maximus watched as the Golden armored warriors of the Golden Empire were valiantly defending the city against the onslaught of rebel forces. The forces of the Orange and Yellow Emperor surrounded the city and were attacking from two sides. Because Yin was a port city, Pol Qo and his army bearing the flag of the Yellow Emperor attacked from land as they managed to cut a path through the Golden Empire's forces and make it to the capital.
Lord Jiang and his sorcerers had conquered a few cities but mainly used ships to blockade cities and launch naval invasion. When Lord Jiang heard that the forces of the Yellow Emperor were already besieging the capital, he immediately moved his forces through the sea and to the Port of the city. Within days they managed to make a landing on the port but were stalled battling the defenders who formed shield walls throughout the streets.
However, one cannot fight on two fronts forever. And today, the cracks were beginning to show as portions of the walls had fallen, allowing the Pol Qo's warriors to flood into the streets. From the port, Lord Jiang had personally gotten involved in the battle and had made a breakthrough, leading his forces further into the city. Bu Gai the current God-Emperor had ordered one of his loyalist Generals who was also a sorcerer to confront Lord Jiang and his forces.
Now this leads as back to the present as Maximus and his forces arrived to help the Golden Empire against the rebel forces. His reasoning was the fact that both the Orange and Yellow Emperor had a negative view of him and his empire. So, it was either help the current God-Emperor of the Golden Empire or prolong the conflict and wait until one of the new Emperor's eventually come attack him.
The decision he needed to make was obvious, as such he assembled his army and will now help God-Emperor Bu Gai.
"Have the gunships start supporting the Golden Empire across the city." Immediately the command was relayed, and smaller sized airships carrying cannons and few witches on each ship started to spread throughout the city and shoot down the enemy warriors that were trying to make it to the city center. The gunners on the airships targeted the places where the Golden Warriors held the line against the enemy forces. The shots were well placed ensuring that they didn't accidently kill any friendlies.
The forces of the Orange and Yellow Emperor, some hardened conscripts and others from peasant levies roused to war with empty promises, had never seen air power like this. They tried to loose crossbows and bows, and some of them turned their Dragon Cannons upward, but nothing they did was effective. The gunners of the airships spotted the flashes of the cannons being shot from the ground and retaliated, killing them instantly.
Outside of the wall, a loud horn echoed throughout the battlefield, signaling the arrival of reinforcements. From airships descended an overwhelming number of powerful warriors. Ranks of Swordmasters of Hoeth with their gleaming blades, marched in disciplined formation, cutting effortlessly through the enemy's lines. Their artistry in battle was unmatched with each strike precise, each step synchronized the person next to them.
The Black Guard of Naggarond charged alongside them with their dark armor and glowing eyes that burned with ruthless fervor. They crashed into Pol Qo's ranks with ferocious aggression, their halberds cleaving armor and flesh alike, leaving trails of blood behind.
The High Elf Spearmen formed unbreakable phalanxes, their long spears driving back charging cavalry units attempting to breach the defensive lines. Behind them, ranks of High Elf Archers unleashed volley after volley, their arrows raining death from above, decimating enemy ranks before they could even reach the frontlines.
Byzantine Cataphracts thundered through the plains, their heavily armored horses smashing through the enemy infantry formations like unstoppable juggernauts. Each charge created breaches that allowed Imperial Infantry to flood through, widening gaps and destabilizing Pol Qo's troops.
A contingent of Spartan Hoplites held critical choke points, their shields forming impenetrable walls against Pol Qo's forces. Each thrust of their spears was disciplined and unyielding, allowing them to hold ground even as enemies desperately charged forward.
The legendary Rohirrim Royal Guards swept across the battlefield, their horses galloping swiftly, spears striking the enemy as they charged in and out of enemy formations. They started to harass the enemy, forcing them split off a few Legions to fend them off. Still, the Rohirrim Royal Guards managed to scatter thousands of enemy cavalry and infantry.
Amidst this, the enormous Mûmakil charged forward, crushing hundreds beneath their massive feet. Hundreds of warriors turned tail and ran, terrified at the sight of these colossal beasts which had war platforms on their backs, filled with archers raining down from their backs.
After them, Caragors, agile and ferocious, moved swiftly through alleyways and side streets, striking terror into isolated enemy warriors who were ordered to hold choke points or deserters who were trying to run. Their loud and monstrous roars echoed throughout the city, even the residents who were already hiding were filled with fear. The Caragors weren't like dogs or wolves and their sharp claws and fangs managed to kill a warrior slowly causing them to suffer before they died.
The Automatons had used their strength and armor to march right through enemy lines. Arrows and other projectiles ricocheted off their metallic frames as they advanced.
From the skies, the elite Dragon Knights descended, their distinctive armor bearing dragon symbols as they landed amidst the enemy's most fortified positions. They were more like shock troops and managed to break through the enemy formation, crippling their logistics and cutting off escape routes. Nearby, the Phoenix Guards, glowing with the sacred fire of Asuryan, protected strategic positions, their enchanted weapons cleaving through even the strongest enemy warriors.
Maximus had also unleashed the Witch Elves who danced into battle with their acrobatic lethality, sowing fear among enemy ranks. They butchered and sometimes tortured their opponents viciously right in front of hundreds of enemy warriors, demoralizing them.
The most powerful of the warriors in this battle though, were the Asgardians. Imbued with divine strength, they formed a powerful vanguard, breaking enemy lines with sheer might. Led by Brunnhilde and her Valkyries, they managed to save thousands of Golden Warriors from being overrun and captured hundreds of enemies.
But with all these powerful warriors from otherworlds, it was the Dawnborn who formed the backbone of Maximus's army, charging in great waves throughout the city. Comprised of common folk and Dothraki warriors who had risen through training and dedication, they fought fiercely, filled with determination that drove them forward to liberate the city blocks street by street.
Maximus himself descended from his airship atop Nyxara, her massive wings casting a shadow over the battlefield. Her dark flames incinerated enemy siege engines and any warriors around them. His presence bolstered the morale of both Imperial forces and the Golden Warriors who were able to regroup.
Spotting Pol Qo himself, Maximus had Nyxara drop him directly on top of him alongside his Imperial Guard.
On the ground, Pol Qo was shouting orders as he slayed 2 Golden warriors who were trying to kill him. "Keep pushing!" he shouted, "We're almost to the Palace." That's when his senses told him to look up and that's when he saw it.
Maximus alongside two hundred of his Imperial Guards were falling directly on top of his position. He raised his sword to block Maximus before he could be hit, but his sword was knocked out of his hand, and he fell to the ground with Maximus's foot resting on his chest. "Come on, get up" Maximus taunted as he pressed harder into Pol Qo's chest.
Around him, his Imperial Guards created a circle around his position and began to push forward as more soldiers were dropped from the sky. Pol Qo, who was on the ground, suffering under the weight of his opponent's foot, became filled with rage and managed to get free. But that was only for a moment, as once he regained his bearing, a powerful uppercut sent him flying into the air.
Maximus jumped up, caught him mid-air and threw him back to the ground. Pol Qo coughed up blood, his body no longer wanting to respond to him. Everything was going black, and he was about to die. Or so he thought, until he heard the faint sound of a voice. "Oh no, you're not done yet," said Maximus as he healed Pol Qo back up. "I'll tell you when you can die."
In an instant, Pol Qo regained his color and was able to stand up. Maximus grabbed a nearby sword from a fallen warrior and threw it at him. "Pick it up." he said. Pol Qo took this as a threat. He had no choice but to fight whoever this person was and try to win. He picked up the sword and got into his fighting stance.
Across from him, Maximus just stood in place waiting for him to make the first move. Pol Qo started sizing him up, trying to find an opening that he could use to his advantage. It took him a few seconds, but he managed to find a small opening and used it. Charging forward, he prepared to swing his sword diagonally. However, as soon as he got close, Maximus turned around and grabbed his sword, deflecting it to the side, while at the same time he kneed Pol Qo in the stomach.
"Come on. If you want to be an Emperor, you have to do better than that or you'll die." Maximus released his grip and let Pol Qo stagger backwards. The fighting all across the city continued, street by street, block by block, as new Legions of Dawnborn charged through the rebel's lines, supported from above by Wyvern flame and gunships.
Still, Maximus circled his opponent. He gave Pol Qo time to grasp the sword with both hands. He allowed him this dignity, because he knew how rebellions felt, the flash of seeing yourself as you wished you'd been, all purpose and glory. It was almost beautiful.
Pol Qo gathered himself and attacked again. Twice, three times he swung, feinting and switching his blade, aiming for every exposed point on Maximus's body. But the blade struck nothing but empty air each time. Maximus let him get close, then pivoted, planting his foot. The next thrust, Maximus met it head-on, trapping the blade with his bare fingers and twisting it away. "You're not bad," Maximus said. He kicked the blade back to Pol Qo, its tip ringing on the stones. "But I've entertained myself for far too long."
But before he could continue, Pol Qo got on the ground and surrendered. "I surrender!" he shouted for all to hear.
Maximus didn't say anything as this was expected. He simply had his Imperial Guard chain him up and then escorted him away. The word was quickly spread around and most of Pol Qo's army surrendered.
Hela was taking care of the other false Emperor so all he needed to do was go meet the God-Emperor of the Golden Empire and the Princess to make sure they were well.
