I hadn't wanted to argue with the Lucas family, but their words had pushed me too far. Even a man of patience has his limits, and I was no exception.
Holmes Lucas and Maeve Lucas stood stunned for half a second before erupting into laughter.
"Did you hear what he said? He said the Sean family picked him, it's killing me!" Maeve laughed so hard tears formed in her eyes.
Holmes clearly felt the same way and couldn't resist mocking me. "If the Sean family were picking a maid, maybe they'd pick you. But they're looking for talent, not trash!"
"You should beg Harvey Brown, maybe he can find you a job as a maid, at least you won't starve, right?"
My face grew colder as I decided to stop arguing and simply sat down on the sofa.
"Did I tell you to sit down, get up!" Maeve shouted shrilly.
I sneered at her. "All these years, when you made me stand, I never sat. When you told me to go east, I never went west."
