Amber Skye stammered nervously, "You... you're leaving now?"
I gave her a nod. "Got business to handle outside."
Her expression darkened.
She was innocent by nature and had figured I'd stick around this tiny mountain village forever.
"Will you... come back?" she whispered.
I shook my head. "Can't say. Might return, might not."
I could see the feelings she had for me clear as day, but Mabel Sean was the only one in my heart.
"Really grateful you carried me out of that forest. Got a gift for you to pay you back," I said.
I pulled out a book filled with alchemy techniques.
The methods were basic stuff, but they came straight from the Divine Alchemist Pavilion.
For Amber, it was more than she'd ever need.
"Time for me to go," I told her quietly.
Amber gripped her clothes tight, staying quiet for ages.
I wasn't the soft type anymore, so I didn't hang around and headed for the exit.
