By the time Ellie returned to the ground floor, the place was empty. Not a single maid was in sight. It seemed they had all finished their jobs earlier than she did and left. She couldn't tell how long she had stayed up there, but she knew she had spent a reasonable amount of time.
Now that she thought about it, she wondered why a palace as big as this would not have a doorman or a butler. The house was just open and easily accessible to anybody.
What was she even thinking? This was no normal palace. Even without a doorman and a butler, or any guard supervising anybody, the place seemed pretty organized. Everyone knew their boundaries, and no one overstepped.
How that was possible, she didn't know and didn't care. What she knew was that whatever was holding everyone down and keeping them in their place will not work for her. She was determined to cross every boundary, overstep, and break every rule set for her. Whoever takes her peace surely will not have any peace.
