Chapter 42 - Chapter Forty two: After the storm.

She stood over him, panting, the rapier at his throat.

"Lesson's over." He snarled—but couldn't move. He wasn't going anywhere. Behind her, Loki emerged from the shadows again, his tails trailing lazily behind. "Now that...," he purred, "...was progress.'', he said as he took over the restriction spell easing her mental burden.

Abigail didn't reply and just collapsed to the floor, exhausted both mentally and physically. She wasn't in the mood to tell him how insane he was again. He floated beside her quietly, eyes not so harsh for once. She had passed his test, Barely.

But she had.

The cavern had grown quiet in the aftermath, the kind of stillness that followed devastation—a heavy, suffocating silence that settled into the cracks of stone and soul alike, as if the cave itself held its breath in anticipation of what was to come.
