Chapter 47 - Chapter Forty Seven: Hoping.

With that settled, Abigail and Gabriel set out toward the town. By the time they reached the outskirts, their boots were thick with dried mud, their clothes stained and torn in places, and they looked every bit like two vagrants who had crawled out of the woods after a week of being chased by nightmares. 

No one stopped them as they entered. It was the sort of town where questions were rarely asked if you had coin.

They found a bathhouse first and cleaned themselves quickly, then made their way to the general store where Abigail—reluctantly—revealed the coin purse Loki had slipped into her bag during one of his rare moments of actual usefulness.
