Cecilia's POV
"Oh my, what happened to your eyes?!"
As soon as I entered the classroom in the morning, Mechelle cradled my face and carefully examined my eyes.
My eye sockets were swollen; once big eyes were now reduced to multiple layers of wrinkled skin, barely able to open. I looked at Mechelle with a pitiful expression.
"What did you do last night? Did you cry?" she asked.
I sighed, resting my face on the desk, and replied wearily, "I didn't do anything; I just couldn't sleep."
"Tsk, I feel like something's been off with me lately," Mechelle remarked.
I closed my eyes and nodded. "I feel the same."
Turning my face back to the desk, I muttered, "It's so frustrating."
"Well, you can talk to me about it. Anything bothering you recently?"
I remained silent for a moment, then sat up straight, hesitating before speaking.
"Mechelle, let's assume… I mean hypothetically—"
"Yeah," Mechelle interrupted, "go on."
