(General POV: Rouge And Shadow)
Both Shadow and Rouge were silently flying their way to GUN Fortress at a decently fast pace. While Shadow wanted to keep to himself, Rouge decided to start the conversation.
"So... It's been a while, Mr. Prince~ aren't you as broody as ever~," She said, making the Hedgehog sigh and said to the Bat Girl in question.
"... I don't feel like talking at all, especially with going to GUN Fortress again, of all places... We need to focus on the problem that the government created. I've been getting this bad feeling about this entire situation, too, ever since getting the briefing." Rouge hummed at his discomfort.
"Well, I can see why!! Looking at some of the videos of the assailant... He was brutal... Never mind all of the planet-destroying nutjobs going after the Chaos Emeralds. Now there's a psychotic Hedgehog on the loose... Oh, there was another Hedgehog I forgot about.
Wasn't his name Scourge, that doofus who would once in a while try to stroke his own ego by trying to take over the world?" Shadow turned his face at Rouge and just blankly stared at her with tired eyes.
".... Why the hell would you bring that bastard up??? He's a damn tryhard if you ask me, an overconfident, egotistical fuck toy who would always try to one-up Sonic by being his 'mirrored copy' of his so-called dark side...
To me, it sounds like he hasn't had a proper father or mother figure in his life and is just trying to get the attention he desperately craves." Rouge narrowed her eyes and said to Shadow with suspicion.
"Did you honestly forget the fact that you had an emo phase before and started yelling out how you're the 'All so mighty ultimate lifeform' as you collected all of the chaos emeralds over remaking this unjust world?" Shadow turned his head away and said.
"Yeah... Let's not talk about that... Never mind that I said anything at all..." They were already near the fortress, but Shadow and Rouge felt something ominous was going on within the base, especially Shadow, as he felt a tremendous amount of chaos energy building up.
The Hedgehog's eyes widened as he tackled Rouge away when a vast green burst of energy blasted near their direction and just kept moving up the sky, clearing the entire sky and breaking the ozone layer, Karmen Line, and Exobase.
The entire blast caused a continental earthquake that lasted up to a couple of minutes before stopping. The blast shook Rouge a bit as she wondered why such a weapon was used, and Shadow, realizing what type of weapon it was, spoke up.
"Why did the government recreate the Gastor Cannon?!? We have to check what's going on now!!!" Shadow spoke in desperation, and Rouge, who mentally recovered, said.
"AYE AYE, Captain!!" She saluted and followed behind Shadow... As the both of them were going to a place where the carnage was all there was to see, they were going to witness a Hedgehog that was arbitrarily different from its goals.

Both Shadow and Rouge followed the direction of the blast; Shadow nostalgically looked around as this was his second time coming here. The first time when he was here, it was for a selfish reason, but now he needed to find the runaway experiment.
At the generator's site, he saw a hovering purple Hedgehog holding the neck of a helpless researcher while standing on another body. The others scattered. Shadow froze at the sight of all the bodies, and Rouge looked like she was going to puke.
For they saw the bodies of countless researchers, what made it worse was that the Purple Hedgehog's voice could be heard from afar.
"Now it's just me and you... I'll absorb your soul differently." The Hedgehog said as its claws dug deep into the back of the researcher's neck. The pain caused the researcher to reel back and gurgle wildly as he struggled... The two witnessed it all with shock
*GAKTTIKNRFJJAHH*
The violent screams slowly began to stop as this gold-like color of light drained away into Indra's fingertips, and with time, his struggle began to weaken as his body became a hollowed husk like the others who came before him.
As soon as that gold-like energy was no more, they both saw The Hedgehog's changes in his body, as a ghostly dark purple aura violently exploded.
He held on to the husk of the researcher's body and spoke up.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here more visitors to join the party hm? Why don't you come out and play." Those words had brought a feeling of fight or flight to both of the operatives, and Shadow told Rouge with a cold voice.
"Rouge, run as far as you can and find Sonic and his friends... I'll hold him back for as long as I can..." Rouge was about to protest, but Shadow yelled louder.
"NOW ROUGE, FLY AWAY!!" Rouge clicked her tongue and spoke before leaving.
"You better handle him, Shadow, after Sonic and his group arrive..." And Rouge left as Shadow trudged forward with determination.
Shadow landed just a few meters away from the purple Hedgehog. When he got closer, The Purple Hedgehog dropped the husk of a body, and like a flicker, his face turned to shadow with his neck cracking. The Hedgehog spoke with a dreadful voice.
"Oh, well, look at that. Aren't you some hero or something? You so valiantly let your friend fly away to call in some backup as you fight me, probably!!" The Hedgehog gave Shadow a smile that unsettled him. This new Hedgehog was something he couldn't wrap his mind around, and Shadow asked something to the Hedgehog.
"Why did you do all of this? Why did you absorb them all?" Shadow said he wasn't entirely sure if the Purple Hedgehog actually absorbed them all, but from what he did to the researcher, he threw them away. He probably did something similar to the rest. The Hedgehog tilted his head to act confused and said.
"Ah... That's because I can, so I did it to learn of those who kept me in a lab. What kind of question was that?" Shadow sucked in some air at the answer and said back to the Purple Hedgehog.
".... You know what... I can't let you leave here alive, 'Savior,'" The Purple Hedgehog scoffed as he mockingly spoke.
"Well, don't you think Savior sounds a bit pretentious?? You could call me Indra.." The Hedgehog named Indra grinned ear to ear as Shadow began his first move. He ran at rapid speed as the fight between two speedsters was about to start.

(A/n: Damn.... That was actually my first cliffhanger... I think chapters are going to slow down for another fanfic I'm writing and a Ji-jitsu tournament this weekend. But don't worry I'll write more for this part.)
