The door opened slowly and Wendy stood up from the couch she was sitting to check who was disturbing her peace by that time of the day, it turned out to be her mother, she was slightly annoyed and she went back to sit.
"My darling". Her mother said as she closed the door and walked towards her "I know you are angry but it's for our benefit, I've studied Aaron and he's a very nice man, he's rich, what else do you want, I married your father_" Wendy cut in
"I know that story mum, you married my father for the benefit of your family, but I'm not you, I wasn't the one that borrowed the huge sum of money. I'll marry him, just know that if I don't have a happy marital life, you'll forever be blamed for it, I have to go to sleep now" Wendy said as she turned off the light and went to sleep on her bed, she doesn't turn off the light before she sleep, she probably did it to get rid of her mum.
Without saying anything, her mum walked out of her room and she slept quietly.
Aaron was busy with his phone when his mum came into the room, she closed the door quietly
"Darling" She said, Aaron looked up and his face expression changed, the last thing he wanted was to talk to his parents
"Mum" he said simply
His mum went to sit with him and hugged him
"You know how your father is, very stubborn, ambitious and sometimes greedy, he is my husband and I have to follow his lead. Wendy will make a good wife, you know?" His mum said and she raised up her head to look at him, Aaron was so much attached to his mum and he was surprised when she agreed with his dad to make him marry Wendy
"I know mum, Wendy is the problem. I don't think she'll like to marry me" he said and his mum looked at him as if he said something surprising
"Who wouldn't want to marry my boy?" she said and Aaron chuckled knowing he's the only one that could understand, his mum left him and sat upright, she touched her ear slightly and her face expression became slightly innocent, Aaron knew that look, it was the one she made anytime she wants to ask for something outrageous
"What do you want?" He asked as he pushed his eyebrow up
"Why did you ask?" She said nervously
"Because you are giving the "I want something look" he said and she smiled and held him
"So, you see I want you to take Wendy out tomorrow, you can't get married without knowing each other better" his mum said and looked at him with her eyes wide open
"She hasn't even agreed, she would never allow me take her out" He said and his mother nodded her head negatively as if telling him that was not the case
"You just drive to her house tomorrow morning and she will be ready" his mum said and smiled, he looked at his mother and laughed fondly before he sighed.
Wendy was ready for work, she was dressed in her light blue suit, black heel and her hair was braided backwards, she picked up her bag and went to the sitting room, she was about to say goodbye to her parent when her mum stopped her
"Wendy, I made some calls already and I informed that you wouldn't be able to attend to work today" her mum said with a smile on her face, Wendy looked at her surprisingly
"But, why?" She asked surprisingly
"Aaron is taking you out, you can't marry each other without knowing yourselves" her dad said and she chuckled and nodded her head negatively, soon they heard the sound of a car
"It looks like your ride is here" her mum said grinning, the way she grinned annoyed Wendy, she did it as it everything was fine
"Fine" that was all she said before she walked out and her parents were surprised, her parents were ready to argue with her till she would finally accept but she simply said "fine", the both looked at themselves like something shocking had just happened which just did.
Wendy heart skipped a beat as she saw Aaron lean against his car, he was wearing a black suit, a black shirt and a wine tie, his shoe was black and shiny, his hair as curly as ever, she thought it was only Zion that made her heart skipped but she was wrong all along, she stood for about two second to examine him and when he raised up his head from his phone and looked at her, her heart escaped another beat before she walked towards him and opened the car trying to fight the fact that he does have an effect on her
"Let's go" She said in a commanding tone, Aaron was slightly disgusted and he mimicked her quietly with an irritating face expression before he entered the car.
"No greetings at all, I should get used to that" he said as he started driving but there was no reply from her, by the time he noticed the uncomfortable silence, he began to speak
"It's not easy for me either, you're making me look like I like it all, I had to cut things off with Aishat yesterday and now she hates me, you also hate me like I'm the cause of it all_" she cut in
"I know, it not easy for me too" she said and then felt guilty, this wasn't like her "and I'm sorry about Aishat" she said and silence fell before she spoke again "it's all your dad's fault" she looked at him and they both chuckled
"Although I'm really grateful he wants to help my parents" she said
"That doesn't mean he should take advantage of it" he said
"Where are you taking me?" She asked as she looked at him
"A tour in my company" he said as he looked at her, their eyes locked for a moment before Aaron faced the steering wheel
"I know you are too broke to take me to a restaurant" she said with a smirk dancing on her lips
"Ouch, too bad we are close to the company and there's no restaurant nearby" he said as if he was lying which he was and she looked at him and laughed a little as she hit his shoulder slightly
"Let's just go in" she said and Aaron pulled into the parking lot
Aaron was surprised to see a smile on her face and it made him somehow relaxed. They both got down and went into the company.
