Chapter 924 - Chapter 924: Primitive Supernatural vs. Interstellar Technology

"Are you proud of trading a stone you picked up for a set of armor?" Muria was left speechless by the simple-mindedness of this situation. "Do you even realize what that stone you randomly picked up means to the extraterrestrials? You think you got a good deal, but they're probably laughing at you for being a fool!"

"Is that stone really valuable?" Silver-armored Bagdad looked confused. He couldn't understand how trading a common stone for a set of armor sturdy enough to withstand beast attacks made him foolish.

"That chunk of stone you traded for this armor could have filled this entire room!" Muria exaggerated a bit. For a civilization already in the interstellar age, the cost of making armor from the cold weapon era was practically nothing.

"I could have gotten that much?" Bagdad stared blankly at Muria, his confusion deepening.

"Something that's ordinary to you could be extremely valuable to those extraterrestrial outsiders, while something you find precious might be nothing more than decoration to them."

The Ikong people in the hall, who were initially upset by Muria's remarks about their foolishness, were collectively dumbfounded.

"Take them away! Summon my Phantom Knights. We're going to the sacred landing site of the outsiders!" Muria stood up and gave orders. He planned to personally investigate this civilization that dared to spy on the world he had descended upon.

If their civilization hadn't reached the point of being able to destroy a planet with a single shot, Muria would start considering how to harvest the fruits of their wisdom and directly bestow them upon the Ikong people, skipping the long evolution process from primitive to space age.

...

"The number of blue-skinned apes entering our base has been increasing these days!"

Inside a metallic base filled with high-tech equipment, a blonde, blue-eyed middle-aged man rubbed his dry eyes as he looked at the hundreds of screens above him and commented with some exasperation.

"I heard orders came from above, instructing the nearby primitive apes to invite their distant relatives here to trade with us!" Another middle-aged man took a sip of a stimulating drink and responded, his tone filled with arrogance. Naturally, the so-called "blue-skinned apes" referred to the Ikong people.

Tall, muscular, and primitive in civilization, the Ikong people appeared no different from the apes locked up in zoos for viewing, at least in the eyes of these interstellar humans.

"What's the point of trading with them? We should just send the army to wipe them out. Wouldn't all the resources on Pandora belong to us then?"

"You're overthinking it. The main threat on Pandora isn't the blue-skinned apes; it's those monsters!" The monitor, who had put down his coffee, looked uneasy. "Unless we can eliminate those monsters, this world will never belong to us."

"I heard the base was attacked by a monster called a 'Mountain Mover' two years ago. Was it really that terrifying? I heard they even used tactical nukes, and it didn't leave a scratch."

"If it weren't that terrifying, you wouldn't be sitting here right now. The base had around 100,000 residents at the time, but after the monster left, only 30,000 remained!"

"That's terrifying!" The newer soldier monitoring the situation showed fear at his colleague's description. "Will that monster come back and attack us again?"

"Who knows!"

"I need to figure out how to get out of here!"

"Don't even think about it!" The veteran crushed his hopes but offered some consolation. "But you don't need to worry too much. I heard the higher-ups approved the use of neutron bombs if that monster attacks again. And we've upgraded our base defenses. If that thing shows up, we won't even need to use such destructive weapons to kill it."

Woo! Woo! Woo!

Just as the two soldiers chatted, a piercing alarm rang throughout the base, with blinding red lights flashing everywhere.

"Warning: A lord-level creature is rapidly approaching! Warning: A lord-level creature…" An emotionless, mechanical female voice echoed above the base, spreading fear. Along with this, the sound of machinery activating filled the air.

Pulse and laser turrets rose from various locations in the base, with blue energy gathering at their tips, all aimed at the distant sky.

"What is that?" All the soldiers in the control room stared at the screens, which showed a clear sky with some black dots appearing among the clouds. Those dots rapidly grew larger.

"Hey, is that the same monster that attacked you last time?" The soldier who had just been contemplating his escape asked, his voice trembling with fear.

"The Mountain Mover is a land-based lord creature. Do you think that thing has anything to do with the ground?" His colleague's expression also stiffened.

The base had prepared for another land-based lord creature, but now, two years later, a flying lord creature had appeared. It was as if fate was playing a cruel joke on them.

At that moment, the base commander was equally shocked. When he heard about a lord-level creature attacking, his first instinct was to escape this world by spacecraft. After all, during the last attack, the base commander had died a terrible death.

But unfortunately, as a soldier, deserting in the face of danger would land him in a military court, even if he made it back home.

"Damn that old man!" The commander cursed the true leader of the base—the legion commander who stayed safe in orbit and never descended to the surface.

"Alert! The lord creature is now within pulse cannon range!"

"Fire!" The commander didn't hesitate to issue the attack order, feeling his life was in grave danger.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Blue beams of light shot out from various parts of the base, targeting the flying creatures in the distance.

The lord-level creature the base was preparing for was, of course, the beast Muria was riding: a mighty Mysha, accompanied by 180 Phantom Knights. Having a slight obsession with round numbers, Muria had left a few extra knights in the Ayare Forest to make an even count.

"They're really welcoming!" Muria chuckled as he watched the incoming pulse cannons, but he didn't intend to act. If he had to handle everything personally, what would be the point of all the effort he put into training the Phantom Knights over the years?

As the pulse and laser cannons fired, the Phantom Knights beside Muria drew their custom wooden bows. The runes on their bodies glowed as they pulled back their bows and fired arrows wrapped in radiant power, their speed and force rivaling the energy blasts from the cannons.

Boom! Boom!

Primitive supernatural power clashed with interstellar weaponry, and explosions echoed across the sky. The arrows fired by the Phantom Knights intercepted the attacks, nullifying them without causing any harm. Their flight path remained steady.

The weapons wielded by the Phantom Knights were all custom-made. Even their seemingly simple wooden bows were crafted from trees that fed on radiant power, perfectly channeling the knights' inner strength and providing extraordinary adaptability.

"Impossible!" The base's unmanned drones recorded the entire encounter, transmitting it back to the base's screens. The commander who had ordered the attack was stunned.

"Alpha Hunter Squadrons One through Five, scramble! Your target is to engage and distract the lord creature. Prevent it from approaching the base. If possible, try to inflict some minor injuries on the beast, but prioritize your safety!" The commander issued new orders, using respectful language toward the end, as he knew he was essentially sending these pilots to their deaths.

Despite this, he had no other option. Against a lord creature, unmanned weapons were of little use. Only human-piloted machines could unleash their full potential.

...

"Interesting!" Standing atop Mysha's head, Muria watched as sleek silver fighter jets ascended from the base. He smiled. He realized this interstellar civilization wasn't as advanced as he had feared. It seemed like a newly spacefaring society, and all the weapons and attacks they had shown so far were within manageable limits.

"Spread out! Use any means necessary to bring down those silver birds!"
