When they finally broke apart, their foreheads rested together again, breaths mingling in the small gap between them.
"You kissed me…" Yang Lingyun murmured, voice low, touched with wonder.
Xia Lihua's face was flushed, but her gaze didn't waver this time. "I know."
A slow smile curved his lips. "I'll take that as a yes, then."
Her lips twitched faintly in return. "Don't push your luck."
Yang Lingyun let out a soft laugh, his thumb brushing lightly over the corner of her mouth. "Too late for that."
He leaned forward to catch her lip between his teeth and his tongue surged inside her mouth.
Their movements were unhurried, gentle, perfectly in sync. His arms wrapped around her back, holding her securely but tenderly, as though afraid she might disappear if he wasn't careful enough.
They finally drew back for a breath.
"Lihua…Little bird..." he whispered her name like it was the most fragile thing in the world.
