The day had passed over to the next one and it was morning.
Sigismund was standing with his group on an empty and barren farm. They were royal guards who had been dispatched in order to investigate the condition of numerous farms on the outskirts of the Derbyshire woods.
After the report of mutated goblins attacking a tomato farm captain Westwood created a short squad of royal guard who he trusted. He then ordered this squad to investigate a number of farms who had reported sighting goblins.
"Sir there's no signs of life in the farm. There are fragments of human bone and clothing in the house though.I believe the mutant goblins have attacked and consumed the humans on this farm as well."The grim tone of the royal guard only lessened Sigismunds mood.
Sigismund had been placed in charge of the temporary squad and he was worried the lack of good news would negatively affect his privileged position.
"That's the fifth farm we've visited today. Two of the farms we visited were found devoid of life and the other three were overrun with mutated goblins.I'm afraid this will negatively affect the amount of food that Ring City's people will have access to."Sigismund hoped he could have gotten to the farms earlier then he possibly could have saved the farmers lives.
As for the farms closer to Ring City Sigismund hoped that the goblins would be deterred by the large city although he decided to advise his captain to send royal guards to defend the farms.
Suddenly an absurd amount of diverse birds came flying overhead. They appeared to be flying in the opposite direction of Ring City. Before Sigismund could attribute the omen to anything negative a variety of forest animals came running out of the Derbyshire woods.
"What the hell is happening?."Sigismund couldn't help but blurt out a curse as an ominous feeling overcame him.
"Hurry up and prepare for battle there are mutant goblins coming at us."Sigismund took out his magic staff and entered a combat ready stance.
Various screams and roars resonated from within the Derbyshire woods and appeared to be approaching closer. There was probably a large mob of goblins coming but of the exact number and quality Sigismund had no idea.
As if to answer Sigismunds thoughts a massive wave of green appeared from within the forest. There was a massive amount of goblins and a very generous number of them were within the B class. It was probably around 60% of them.
By the time the wave of green made it out of the forest Sigismund had already prepared a mighty spell containing all his mana.It was a powerful thunder element spell that converted one of the casters arms into thunder mana. The sheer amount of provided mana along with the energy harvested from converted matter made a remarkably powerful spell that was guaranteed to one shot almost anything. It was a weaker version of a banned thunder element spell that converted the entire body into pure thunder.
As Sigismund channeled all his mana into his spell and his right arm transmuted into thunder it created a burst of thunder so powerful that the light created by it could be seen from the walls of Ring City.It also blinded Sigismunds subordinates who didn't know what their leader was planning. After the immense amount of thunder subsided Sigismund looked upon his works. He had sacrificed his right arm but when he saw the condition of the verdant green wave he fell into despair.
Somehow the goblins had survived but they had used a stupid amount of magic in order to block the stupid amount of thunder mana. However the amount of energy required to do such a thing was immense even for a single organism.
Sigismund could only reach one conclusion. The goblins were using a massive type of magic formation in order to pool all their mana together and use powerful spells. That either required a number of incredibly powerful mages or an absurd amount of mages and Sigismund was willing to bet on the second one.
Sigismund looked to the sides and saw that the wave of green stretched as far as the Derbyshire forest.Considering the Derbyshire woods was two days walk across then that was an absurd amount of goblins. The wall of green was also 6 metres high and had goblins climbing over each other in all shapes and sizes.
"It's hopeless."Sigismund fell into despair as the goblins cheered and mocked him.The wave of green the continued onwards engulfing Sigismund and his subordinates. The goblins consumed their remains while continuing their fast tread towards Ring City.
...
A few guards were just chilling on the outer ring wall of Ring City when they saw a massive wave and swarm of green approach Ring City from the Derbyshire woods. They spat out what they were drinking as they called the other patrols and stations on the outer ring wall to prepare for a gruelling battle.
