Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The First Day

After finishing the exam for Golden Lion Adventuring academy, it didn't take that long for Mill to get the news that he passed. In fact, he and his entire party from the exam all got their acceptance letters a mere week after the exam. The group didn't have any way to meet up but were all confident that if one had made it then it was certain that the rest passed as well. Mill was excited that he managed to pass but tried his best to hold off on celebrating. "Calm down, Mill. This is just a single step toward your forward in your mission of beating Agralon. Now's the time that we really get serious!"

Mill decided that it was time that he started trying to discover as much about his ability as possible while trying to control it better at the same time. He knew how little he understood about his ability and felt that it was time that he changed that. He spent the next two months learning how more about his ability. He sought out what emotions triggered powers and ways that he could trigger those emotions and still control them. He took this chance to increase his natural skills with weapons and his physical body as well. His sister and aunt helped him with this due to their first-hand experience from having been adventurers.

He made good progress, or as much progress as he could, within two months but today was the first day of his time at Golden Lion and, of course, in classic Mill faction he was still asleep. "Damnit Mill why do you always do this! Wake up you lazy bum!" Mill's big sister Nova was currently shaking Mill violently in an attempt to wake him, but it wasn't working. She let out a frustrated sigh as she looked down at her sleeping brother.

"Alright, you lazy brat. You've left me no other choice." Nova took a few steps back, ran forward, jumped into the air and elbow dropped Mill directly in the stomach. Mill shot up while gripping his stomach. "What the hell!? Nova? Why did you do that?" Mill looked at his sister with a look of betrayal, but she had no patience to explain and just grabbed Mill by his shoulders. "Just shut up and get ready to go to the academy already. You know for someone that spent the past two months preparing you sure are pretty calm even though you're gonna be late if you don't leave now." Mill eyes widened as he grabbed his phone and realized that he only had two hours to make it to Golden Lion for the opening ceremony.

"Every damn time!" Mill jumped out of the bed and pushed his sister out of his room. "Thanks for waking me but I really gotta get ready now. Bye!" Nova watched the door slam shut in front of her and rolled her eyes. "I don't think that he'll ever change." Nova smirked to herself and went downstairs to sit with her aunt. Meanwhile, Mill was currently trying to get himself ready as quickly as possible without panicking. 'Don't want any clones showing up.' Though that didn't stop lightning from cracking around him and it actually helped Mill move quicker. Mill got dressed in his normal clothes and grabbed everything that he felt that he needed, which included the weird black orb from the practice exam.

"I still don't know what you are, and I honestly don't care right now. Let's just hurry along now, okay?" Mill placed the orb inside of his pocket grabbed his bag and a pair of short swords that his sister got him as he ran down the stairs. "Nova! Jenny! I'll see you two later!" Mill opened the door and went to leave when he felt the warm embrace of his aunt and sister upon him. "Have a good time Mill and don't forget that we love you." Jenny said as she kissed Mill his cheek.

"If you ever get in any trouble, just give me a call and I'll fly right over and deal with it in style, alright bro?" Nova roughly furled Mill's hair as she finished speaking. Mill stayed in his family's embrace for a few seconds more before walking out of the door. "I'll try my best to make sure you two don't have to worry about me. Goodbye, and never forget that I love both of you very much." Mill waved to the only family that he had remaining in his life before taking off down the street.

Mill had a big smile on his face as he left his aunt's house and said his goodbyes to the two most important people in his life and used that to trigger Excite, which is what he called when he used the emotion of happiness. He propelled himself down the street at such high speeds that all that people saw was a yellow flash pass them followed by the explosive sound of thunder. "It's great that Nova was worried about me but like this I'll never be late to anything again!" Mill picked up his speed as he ran to Golden Lion adventuring academy for his first day in training. The journey would normally take someone in a vehicle around an hour but only took Mill 45 minutes on foot and it's not even at his fastest speed.

As he could tell when he was close to Golden Lion by the number of people that seemed to be walking in with all sorts of weapons and armors on. The adventuring academy also double as the city's adventurer's guild so a few real adventurers would occasionally come by. "And there it is." Mill could finally see the academy. He saw the giant main building that was made out of a beige concrete. He saw multiple buildings around it and he could tell that they were part of the academy because they were all behind a tall metal fence. At the entrance of the fence was a sign that read, "Welcome to Golden Lion" made completely out of gold.

"That's out of a weird flex or just a thing to represent the gold in the school's name, but either way it looks cool." Mill came to a screeching halt as he made it the entrance. He walked through the gate with a smirk on his face as the lightning that was around him slowly faded. Mill looked at the others that were entering with him and saw many different emotions.

Some were visibly nervous, some were really confident, and some were crying because they were living away from their families for the first time. "Well, at least I'm the confident one in this situati-" Mill bumped into someone and both of them fell onto the ground. Mill shook his head, "Of course. Hey, I'm sorry about that." Mill got off of the ground and went to help the other person up when he saw just who he had ran into.

It was a girl with shoulder length black hair that curled as it got closer to the ends. She also a blue streak in her hair but the thing that Mill noticed first was her slightly pointed ears. "It's fine, I wasn't watching where I was going either so I should also be apologizing." The girl took Mill's hand, and he felt her soft white skin as he helped her up. The girl had pink eyes and was where a green shirt with a sunflower on it along with a black skirt that fell to around the middle of her thigh. She was also quite a bit shorter than Mill as he had to look down slightly to see her face. As Mill looked at this girl all he could think was, "Man you're cute."

"Thank you." Mill snapped out of his daze. "What did you say?" The girl looked up at him and smile and responded to the question. "You said that I was cute, so I said thank you. It was a really nice compliment and the first time that anyone has said that after just meeting me." Mill covered his mouth quickly as his face flushed, "I said that aloud?" The girl nodded her head, but she kept her bright smile as she did so. It was only the first day and Mill had already embarrassed himself after he had just walked into the school. Mill slowly lowered his hands and sighed.

'This is already a bad start and I know that it'll just get worse as time goes on.'
